this is not just another FPS with eye candy ;), go read the official site linky. the game is based on the real life chernobyl disaster, its a game that just exemplifies everything. read up folks, read up! and remember to watch the vid trailers!

I have been waiting for this game since before the BF2 launch on 6/21/05. I just got Dark Messiah for Christmas, I better play it through before S.T.A.L.K.E.R comes out, because I am D.E.F.I.N.I.T.E.L.Y buying it! :cool:

ahh a fellow loyal follower :cool: i too have been waiting for this game since forever, but just imagine how perfect its going to be now, i bet it wont need a single patch and will run stonkingly fast. this is a true game and shows many software houses how a REAL game SHOULD be done!

you may of already heard the saying, but to summarise stalker and to give an idea of how realistic it is; "if you cant do it in real life you cant do it in stalker"

i forsee a large community arising with the birth of this games launch, with perhaps some mods such as what farcry had for EVEN BETTER graphics, if thats actually possible.

Okay, so I had never heard of this game before today. I read on the offical site for around half and hour.

I am now excited about the release of this game.

For me it is exciting to see a developer focus on STORY and GAME PLAY over Graphics.

Unlike some people who have posted here, I am not impress w/ the screen shots and I don't think this is just anouther FPS w/ Eye Candy.

From what I can tell from the web site it is supposted to be a "True to life" game with real physics and interaction.

"X-Ray is a powerful game engine implementing modern technologies. The engine does not support software rendering and requires a DirectX® 8 or higher compatible accelerator."

"Support for all third generation D3D compatible accelerators, optimized for Geforce3 and up"

Even w/ DX8-ish Graphics if the developer does what they say they are trying to acomplish then this will be a great game.

Also it may turn out well, due to EA not being involved.

stalker also uses DX9. it reverts to DX8 for older hardware. it just goes to show that if a software house is willing to put the wrench time in (which, unfortunately 99% of software houses arent) the results are truely spectacular and prove what the pc can do. just look at the delay time on this game, like 1.5yrs, stalker is using an older engine to boot as well, but it still beats the shit out of the D3\Q4 engine, along with looking better than FEAR as well. see that bethesda? this is how oblivion should of played on a performance scale.

Yes! I read about this game some two years ago on Tomshardware (yes, I know you hate that site Ket :))... the write up made it sound absolutely insane. A complete recreation of the area surrouding Chernobyl post meltdown is the setting ...I've wondered since then what became of the game, thanks for posting. WooHoo!

Ok guys. This is it for me.

The lasts news pushed me over the edge. And even if it is just a new rumor that they will release the game in 2007, I don't really care anymore. They have betrayed and lied to their fans time after time after time. You can only cry wolf so many times until people will stop believing you. GSC/THQ has totally left their dedicated and faithfull fans in the dark, by not telling WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON. No positive news for the last two years. No official demos. No new screens. No videos. No NOTHING.
