I'm starting to regret getting an X1950 Pro (just a tad)

Hmmmm that sounds interesting.
This should shake things up since the change from 320 wont change anything, except if you play at really high resolutions.

Sounds more like NVIDIA accepting they can't make something better than R600 to me :).

The fact of the matter is that those high end cards are only a small market, having a powerful mid-ranged card will turn much better profits.

Exactly, it's not about being worried about the competition, by the time the R600 comes out Nvidia will have made millions/billions already outta the 8800 series and to have a mid range card available at the time of Ati's release just keeps them ahead of the game as more people worlwide will buy the cheaper mid ranged offering thus keeping ATi sales down and therefore if that theory continues.....by the time ATi get their mid ranged cards on the shelves, NVidia will have an even better 2nd Gen DX10 card available, that of course is all purely speculation but it would appear thats the way it's going at the moment, providing that 2nd generation NVidia card is at least as good as ATI's first gen, NVidia win, well for the time being anyway.

Just my thoughts, it will be an intersting next few months!

Interesting comment considering ATI can't get the R600 out the door. It will be around the end of march before you will be able to get one in the retail channel and a full 6 months behind the the G80.
