I am desperately trying to claw back some functionality from my HIS X1900XT 256MB card which I decided to 'flash' to an XTX only for the display to all go to $hit.
having spoke to my mate he reckons that I need a copy of the original X1900XT 256MB bios to have any chance of salvaging my gfx card. Of course I never bothered to make a back up copy at the time. I have scanned and scanned the web and I have been thru techpowerup's bios dump to no avail......
If there is anyone out there with the same card as mine that could take 2 mins to copy there bios file and post it on this forum or email it to me directly, then I would be pretty damn thankful!

When are people going to learn that you need to post more helpful thread titles than "help me"?

And what was the command line when you flashed the Sapphire BIOS without success? And which was the flash program?

The Program was Flashrom.
The Command line was "flashrom -f 0 biosname.bin"
-f to force the flash........ cos we done it blind, we didnt get to see the command line which came up after it but the sound that the beeper made went something along the lines of....dooooo-daaaaa-deeeee. as oppossed to the the beeeeep, you get when u make an error.:wtf:

yea, very expensive, but im sure it wouldn't be no problem getting a replacement. I have gotten a few replacements, when I used to flash my 9550 all the time. hehe.. lets just say I had like 4 different 9550's in like 2 months.
u can try the warranty on it..how old is it?

yeah.....RMA it is......whether I get it or not is another matter though.
For once, I will not feel fully vindicated and righteous if the company knock the RMA back! :ohwell:

Use atiflash with the following command line:
atiflash -f -p 0 x1900xt.bin
Of course you won't see the line that's why try to be precise. 0 is zero not the letter "o" and biosname is x1900xt (it could be shorter of course - something like 1.bin) but don't miss to type 0 (it is the adapter numer).

Probably when we start killing people because of it. It works quite well when dictators do such things.

yea if that don't work, I would just make up a lame story to your cards manufactuer, surely they will give you a replacement. I mean ATI gave me many replacements, with no questions as to why it messed up in the first place. Just give it a try, it takes like a week at most.
And plus you have a BRAND NEW CARD!!!!

IT WORKED!!!!!! :rockout:
Although my card now seems to be getting slightly lower bench scores on ATI Tray Tools, <8000 as oppossed to >8000, I now have back a fully functioning X1900XT gfx card!!!
Muchos Grazias dolf...... :respect:

"Slightly lower bench scores" but it is working ;) . Now you can ask for HIS X1900XT 256MB from somebody which have HIS and when you get it to flash with HIS BIOS. Probably you can acheive litle more than with the Sapphire one.

I believe the HIS iceQ3 is clocked above default X1900XT.
The other way to replace the BIOS of a card is to use the " -newbios " command and that will completely reflash the the BIOS card ID and all. A force flash will not change the card ID.

That is not true. The -newbios option is used only for overwriting of the "preserved rom settings" and on X800/X850 Series. The force option is already included and the device ID for sure can be changed but in that case it is the same and there isn't what to change ;) .

Only the Turbo version is clocked higher than default :shadedshu
