The Inquirer is reporting that the R600 will be released in four different PCBs. Each will be made to target different markets. They are saying that there is some leaked drivers and some marketing documents that are calling them the x2xxx series. With a few named already on the list, the x2200 and x2400 are being shown on this document they have seen.
There toped dog XTX will be 12 inches long and will have 1GB (16) chips of DDR-4 memory from Samsung. The will connect to the GPU via the new 512-bit external bus. They are reporting that the memory could do 2.4 GHz (1.2 x 2) with an unbelievable bandwidth of 153.6GB almost doubling the 8800GTX with its bandwidth set at 86.4GBs.
The XT will not be as long as the XTX but will be 9 inches long. It will be the same card as the XTX only half the memory set at 512. Speeds will probably be lowered as well on the GPU and memory but will be the same card on a different PCB.
There will also be a XL for OEM only they are saying. It will have normal clock speeds for what ever they may be and still feature DDR-4 memory on them. It will have a 9in PCB. This card will maybe used in the Multimedia market...
GT is going to be here again and maybe be named the X2000GT. This will be made from the left over chips. Who know if the card is very popular they could bin down real chips that could be flashed to the higher class cards. How ever it appears that this card is expect to sell well and it will feature 1GB and 2 GB of DDR3 memory on this modal.
All four cards will feature a signal slot cooler for all four cards. This could be a good selling point for AMD/ATi seeing that there competitor Nvidia could not produce a signal slot cooler for its new cards. It is being reported that because of the die shrink being at 80mm is what made this possible to do.
Three of these cards will not connect by the normal 6pin plug but instead will use a new 8pin. This was one of the ways they were able to make 3 of these cards into a 9in PCB. The XTX will take dual 6pin and the others will be 8pin but will include an adaptor or it. Expect this years PSUs to start producing them as a new standard to come.
Lastly there is a Dual-HDMI 1.3 option for theses cards but will not be released till after some time has past on the release of the cards. They may be available in Multimedia machines from Dell or other company’s before sold individually on the open market.
