i just got a new nvidia card and i want to know what kind it is without putting it in my g/f's computer is there a sn or tag on the card itself? its a pci-e with a dvi and vga port and s video port on it thats all i know about it so far

For a starter, how many memory modules on it? Does it require PCI-E 6 pin connector, it should say somewhere on the PCB the manufacturer at least.

well if i just plug it in and download the nvidia software for it and install it will it work just fine and no it does not have a pci-e power plug

At a guess it's a straight vanilla 6600, not GT, no 6 pin power or molex so working on the fact that my old 6800 vanilla had molex power am guessing its below that, dont think 5 series cards (or many of them anyways) were PCI-E so most likely low end 6 series.

that is the card i have can anyone tell me what it is if they can and also im not sure it it pci-e

its AGP it looks like a 6600,possibly a 5200 too.
pop the cooler off and have a look on the gpu.

it is an agp its a nvidia geforce440 mx i just plugged it in lucky me her computer was agp with a amd athlon xp 3000+ 640mb ram and now this card now she can stop using mine for her adobe photoshop and illustrator programs. lucky me i got it for free dont care its not a gaming card because she does not play games on her computer

i just ran both her adobe programs and they do work perfectly lol
a 6600 without a power plug? my 5200 had one ;o

my 6600 vanilla had no molex,maybe a gt might have one.i have nvr seen a 5200 with one on.
