What's the highest overclock you've seen on a 7800 gtx 256 mb?
very hot temps 85c stock cooler though
I can get 480/1410 stable 24/7 but any higher on the core it starts or artifact...i can get alittle higher on memory though.
You people think this is a decent overclock for a 7800 gtx 256 mb?
ps ...im waiting for the ati r600 gddr4 card .. but iam so tempted to get another 7800 gtx 256 mb for sli to see what kind of performance i
get.

I am no Nvidia expert, but 85*C seems HOT. I wouldn't be happy if my X1800XT was running that hot. My Geforce FX 5900 claims the core slowdown temp is 140*C, thats like 284*F, so I am thinking that the temp monitor isn't that good.

Actually that 140C would be the temp before the core actually melts or suffer visible damage...:respect:

I had 485 / 1420 at my 7800GT....Was expecting that the GTX would go much further...

The GTX is pretty much clocked as fast as it was intended :respect:

Theres always room for OC ( even a small amount ) in every card due to space left for maximum stability by companies....

That shows nVidia didn't leave a lot of head room for you after all.

Thats what I thought too, but it says "Core Slowdown" temp. I didn't think there was a chip in the world that could run that hot.

Well... i can go for 485/1495 ... but it get's to like 90c and starts to artifact because it gets too hot.. or not enough volts.
the 7800 GT overclocks better because it only has 20 pixel and 7 vertex vs 24 pixel 8 vertex/..

my other 7800 gtx could do 490/1380.
