hey.

Ok I have bought a new Xion2 black pearl case, Club3D GeForce 8800GTS and a new OCZ 600WATT PSU.
Now..I set up the computer and once it starts up..it says " system fan has failed " press F2 to continue... ok...I pressed it and it starts up..nothing appears wrong, and everything appears to be working...all 3 fans work on the case...the video card and CPU fans are working...but what is this...system fan??
I dont want to ignore it because it comes up every time I boot the computer up. SO what do I do now?

do you have a case fan plugged into the motherboard? if you dont then it will give you this msg. you should be able to go into your bios and disable the fan warning. the motherboard isnt getting an rpm signal so it thinks the fan thats plugged in died. just plug a fan in it or disable it.

I dont beleave I have one no...theres no fan on the mainboard...there never was..and never got this warning....only got it once I moved it into the new case. all fans are connected up from the PSU...but no fans are connected or on the mainboard..

The CPU fan should be connected to the motherboard, if it isn't it will cause errors like this. Make sure it's plugged into the right slot.

Ok..ive gone into the BIOS and had a look at the CPU speed and system temp..it also shows system fan speed is 0.. so thats the problem all right..but its always been 0...
I cant turn off the warming..or I dont know where to go to do that..I checked everything...but nothing to do with fan speed settings. Any ideas?

yes the CPU is plugged into the mainboard...when I was taking it out..I did not touch the CPU..so its working perfectly still.

:wtf:  i think he ment the CPU FAN needs to be plugged into the mainboard or your going to get that error

oh :D but theres the connections you have on the mobo for the fans right? the one thats the closest to the CPU if theres not a fan connected to that one you'll get that error

do you have a pic of your mobo ??

do you still got the manual?

the only problem with the manual is..well I never got one
look at my system specs..the mobo is writen down there somewhere!

well..all the connections on the mobo are all put into thingys...I dont have any...switchs that connect to any fans..only from the PSU.
I never had this problem in my old case...and in the BIOS...it also showed that the system fan speed is 0. I never had a system fan running I dont think!

if there really is no setting in bios to disable it, i'd just replace one of your case fans with one with a 3 pin motherboard header (same as the one on the cpu fan) you said the case fans are plugged into the psu, so check if they are 3 pin fans with a molex adapter(like that->) before getting a new one http://img.techpowerup.org/070120/images-1.jpg

well here you go
http://217.110.237.67/Manuals/7184-engl%20v1.x.pdf#search=%22MSI%20Amethyst-M%20overclocking%22

and the CPU FAN is right on top of the MEM Slots;)

argh I dont wanna fecking buy a new fan..theres no need for a fan. Everything appears to be working..I really dont get whats going on.
There are no fans connected up to a 3 -pin connector...all fans are connected up to 4 pin connectors...the CPU fan is connected to a 3 pin..if thats what you mean:confused:

Ok, plug the fan that is blowing air directly onto the CPU into the slot that PuMa recommends, I agree that SFAN is probably the slot you want. You keep saying the CPU is plugged into the mainboard - we're talking about the CPU fan, not the CPU itself!
