Well, I installed my A64 4000+ (skt939) and was about to fit my 'Arctic Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra' when I noticed that the new cpu heatsink & fan fouled the Northbridge heatsink due to the fact that the ACS64U has 2x tension bracket arms instead of just one :(

So I had to install my stock A64 3000+ heatsink & fan :( (the temps seem fine but Im sure the ACS64U would be better)

As its only the 1st row of fins blocking the cpu heatsinks arm couldnt I just remove them or rotate the Northbridge heatsink 180 degress???

Any help on this problem would be great, thanks in advance ;)

rotate it would work or you could use a pair of pliars and bend the fins out of the way btw your specs say you have a 7000+ instead of 4 might want to change that

i want a 7000+ too :p
it didn't look that rotating is possible, i would bend the pins or fert a different cooler

I wish I had a picture to show you, but I put ramsinks on a X800GTO - the stock cooler was in the way on a few of them, but only by 1/2 in the worst cases.

So I took a dremel cutoff wheel and knocked the "offending" fins off the ram sinks.

Looks like your 180 deg idea is the best (the other side looks like a row of fins is missing), but if for some reason it doesn't work:

- You could remove it and shave down (or off) the row of fins that are in the way if you have a dremel and cutoff wheel, I don't think you'll loose much NB cooling capacity.

- Look for a lower profile or different NB sink (preferrable solid CU).

OH - I just noticed this - the other side of your NB has missing fins to make room for the PCIex1 slot. So it look like rotating it will work, assuming you have no need for the x1 sot (who the heck does?)

Thanks guys, I forgot to mention that one side of the heatsink had a row of fins missing ;) So its agreed, rotation would probably be best :)

give it a spin m8 or fit a low profile aftermarket one.

I spun the Northbridge heatsink 180 degrees and now my Arctic Cooler fits perfectly :) Thanx for the advice guys :)
