Sapphire Radeon 9550 256mb COOLING!!
Please can anyone help me? I want to change the fan on my radeon 9550 256mb graphics card. I have seen a few for sale, of various manufacturers and types etc, but which one is compatible with this card? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thankyou

1) I don't think the 9550 has the ability to manually control fan speeds because it doesn't have a temperature chip. You might be able to modify the fan or buy a fan that could plug into a standard fan controller.
2) Only post your message once in future please, if people can help they are likely to see it in either section of the forums. Only consider posting again in another area if it has been over a week without advice. Odds are you'll get help anyway.

seems Zalmans out by looking on newegg
I had the same exact card as you and all I did was change that thermal paste on the HSF and made for a bit better temp(I have a LCD temp display with thermisters to measure temps)

so far I found on newegg:
Vantec IceberQ 5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835110109
Vantec CU HSF(like the stock HSF, but copper)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835110103
Vantec IceberQ 6(like Arctic silencer, but idk if it fits your card)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835110015
just to name a few
all the Arctic Cooling Silencers for your card are out of stock

They all do not fit guys... theres a capacitor that would block all possible means of installing them. Best solution is just to bolt on a 80mm fan onto the stock Passive heatsink, VF700 would not fit because the caps are too close to the "nipple installation".

Sapphire has the heat sink fan not the passive sink, like the second one I listed on the above post, at least mine did

Um... no, I have one too, an in most cases its the passive heatsink, the HSF models these days are becoming rarer and rarer.

My sapphire 9550 had the fan, not passive. I'm not sure anymore but most of the 9550s used to have it.

The passive models are common thing these days. Even if they say it uses a fan, the product will either be passive or with a fan. Other than that, they both get the job done. You should take your GPU to a computer store that stocks the VF700 and let them test it out.
