We are still having a problem with people giving one's and overall vote spamming. is there any way you could make votes visible to the public? like you click on each bar and it says who voted that number..? we can do it with polls so why not the case gallery.

No, you could PM me about the problem and I'll go through and erase some votes :).

Well are you going to delete every 1 vote from the database? that wont cure the problem. The entire time I have been reading the case mod gallery, I have seen maybe 2 or 3 posts with a justified 1. Everyone always seems to want to claim the 10's that were given but few will claim they gave a 1 on a fairly nice rig.

Well, you can't really change a person's opinion on something. The way we have the case gallery set up is really about as good as we can get it. We let people vote freely, and people who are jerks about 1's get their votes erased. You can't really do anything other than that... You post the names of who voted what, and that opens the floor for flaming. You remove the "1" from the case gallery, how fair is that? It just makes the okay votes really look like crap, especially if a 5 is as low as you can vote. If you can tell me a good thing to do about the case gallery and why, I'm all ears.

DUDE.... Sometimes people have to give a one. I have once to some guys horrific case, but yeh. As Zek said, its free opinion, many people who vote 1 usually are constuctive about their reasons when asked anyway.

that is what i was refuring to. if there is a honest reason for your vote then what is there to hide? people currently rate whatever they feel as they are anonymous voters. if everyone wanted to vote 1's on a spectacular case they could, and until the votes were deleted the owner would have no clue why it was voted that way. it just makes people responsible.

So I'll just start sending "own up" PM's to people who vote 1's on a particular case (case has to be reported via PM, I'm too lazy/busy to be looking at the case gallery 24/7), or else they get vacations :).

yeah but,99% of the people who are voting "1" or something are totally jerks, who dont have a single post in the forums, and they just start giving a "1" to everyone...

Or just change the scale. Instead of making the lowest number a one you make a scale from 5 to 10. Then it doesn't affect the total score so much.

there are several cases that deserve 3/4s

for a system to deserve a 1 it would have to be pretty crap anyway.i dont think i would ever give anyone a 1.

i added a few changes to the voting:

when the vote you want to post is too far from the case's average vote it will ask you for a comment why you think the case deserves this score. it will post this comment with username and score into the comments of the case. when you change your vote the text will stay it will just be striked through and a note that teh vote has been removed will be added

Sweet, I have the option to remove individual votes instead of having to clear all the votes when someone votes low, thanks W1zzard :).
