you can but if you have to run it at pc2700 speeds or it will most likely be unstable.

yes...but both sticks will operate @ 2700...

yeah its for my g/f's pc its a amd xp 3000+ socket A and her 512 mb that came with it is a pc3200 and now that i put the new 512 pc2700 stick in there it runs at 333 speed i guess that will work right?

It'll work fine aslong as your xp3000 is the 333 version.

you could spd tool flash the 2700 to 3200 (make sure it works at that spd first obviously)

Just do a search for a program called cpuz. Even if it's not running at 333 it should work, it would just run at 266.

You can also go to system in control panel.It should tell you the speed there.If you have 2100mhz it's the 400fsb version and 2167mhz will be the 333fsb version.

thanks everyone you all answered my ?'s and yeah she has the 2167 mhz but her pc came with a pc3200 chip but its been a few days and her computer is still up and running when it boots up it says its ddr 333 so i think it will be ok

Always best to run Socket A systems with the cpu and ram in sync (or 1:1).No advantage whatsoever in running the ram at 400 if the cpu is at 333.

thats mainly nforce2's, via kt600's see a bit of an improvement running ddr400 with a 333fsb, but this is based on sandra and everest benchies i done when testing my ram on a pals mobo, he ended up buying 333 ram so dont know about overall, but nforces certainly prefer 1:1
