View Full Version : Can anyone think of a good reason not to install my new PSU upside down?

obviously I would have to cut a hole, but I already ordered it and it just occurred to me that the fan will be blowing out the bottom right into my AC freezer64 pro. That doesn't help my cpu stay cool. What do you people think of my idea?

lol...you are probably right:D I didn't really look into that....hmmmmm I guess the air would go out the back.

You might break the space-time continuum.

It depends on where your various PSU fans are. If there's one on the bottom and one next to the plug, flipping it upside down would kiss airflow goodbye. If there's one fan on one side and one on the other, then there is no problem :).

It only has the 1 x 140 mm fan in the bottom.

So flipping it upside down would kill the airflow and slowroast your power supply ;).

No problem.:toast:

Just mount a extra fan at the back of the psu to increase the airflow.

;) but if the big 14 cm fan was actually blowing out then my original idea of mounting PSU upside down was a great idea:nutkick:

that is my current air flow setup...the one on the side cover is the exhaust

EDIT: I could probably put another 80 mm intake directly below the PSU for kicks:)...hehe like technicks said

Yes then it would look like this. Nice cooler btw i'm getting it this week.

Oh i see now you have your cpu cooler mounted the wrong way. The fan should be on the right side.
And the other casefan at the back you should turn that one around to.

wrong way ...really are you sure, because I thought about it for a few minutes.
:shadedshu

I think it works well..the air comes in from the back right through the cooler, and out the side.
I don't think it would work as well the other way. Unless I changed everything. The 3 80 mm fans are intakes and the big 120 is exhaust

well..then I would also want to make the side fan an intake if I were to take that route.

EDIT: notice also that none of those have a side exhaust like mine or the intake below the video card. It works great, but it isnt easy to cut the hole without deforming the metal.
