A lot of people like them. I've never owned one so I can't tell you anything from personal experience. I would check out some reviews, I'm sure there is a plethora of them.

These (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127011) are supposed to be good too.

just use the onboard on that board, honestly with kets drivers or the latest drivers avalable its gonna sound fine/great(depends on ur speekers)

if you use corssfire with cards that use 2 slots(xt/xtx) you will have 1 normal pci slot useable thats it.

these days addin soundcards arent needed as long as you UPDATE YOUR SOUND DRIVERS never ever use the ones on the board cd, they are outdated by the time the board gets put in the box for shiping.

if you just cant belive me then check some reviews of the ADI1988 chip *hd audio used on all current asus boards*

then if you just have to have an adin card then the 2 best cards on the market are

AuzenTech AZT-XM71 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Auzen X-Meridian 7.1 Sound Card

and
Razer Barracuda AC-1 7.1Gaming Soundcard

x-fi has been reported to have alot of problems with alot of diffrent boards, crackling/poping as well as performance issues related to drivers.

if you dought me check the creative support forums.

also check the x-fi thred here :)

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=23899

take a look, this isnt uncommon at all, i have seen alot of x-fi renated problems.

and IMHO 130+mb for driver+mixer is crazy.........talk about heavy on the system.....ouch.

I wanted to get him a Razer Baracuda Sound Card but since the Abit crosfire MB has only 1 pci slot, its kinda hard to choose, starting to think not to get him a crossfire MB and just get SLI
