I been thinking of upgrading my ipod mini (yes, it's pretty old) to either the ipod video or the Creative ZEN Vision:M but I'm not really sure which one I should get. Well, I would want the ipod video because I don't have to buy another separate charger (the one that goes on a wall outlet). But as I look into the Creative ZEN Vision:M more, it seems to be much better than the ipod video. Your opinion?

check out meizu. they're a chinese brand, total ipod knockoffs, but some of their stuff is pretty good. meizu mini's are schweet. you can only get them thru import tho.
the zen W is schweet too.
personally, I use a palm zire72 pda.

Zen Vision:M all the way. I bought an Ipod video 30gb and regret it now after playing with a friend's vision:M
You just dont have any control over your music when on the go with an ipod, the interface is nice but limited.

Archos is another brand you should consider. Awesome players, lots of features, and a huge screen compared to others.
go for the Creative ZEN Vision:M ;)

You know I'm not too keen on buying an ipod, I have a friend that is a manager of an Apple retail store, and he outright told me that ipods are outright messed up. He said they get between 5-10 back every month that doesn't work, just out of the blue blows itself up and corrupts its system... He said its an issue that just occurs randomly in errors between itunes and the ipod itself when you transfer data...
:(
Sucks cause after having my friends for about a week I really wanted one.

archos have other issues in my exp as well as price, but lets not get into that ;)
also thought i should give a good mention to iriver and rio make sure you check the unit your looking at for specs and get one that supports ogg(vorbis) and other formats, better audio quility at lower bitrates(new aotuv vorbis is good stuff can convert audio books to 32k and they sound better then 96-112k mp3 :) )

Nevermind the hundreds of Ipods that one store sold that month though right. 5-10 is WELL within the failure rates for consumer electronics.

Creative Zen Vision M
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16855102005
$160 after the rebate. The black one sold out, and blue is the cheapest color I found on Newegg.

Creative Vision:M is no doubt better than the Ipod Video, I just would never get it because I didnt want anything bigger than the ipod video which pushes to limits for me.
I own a Sansa E200 and it goes up to 8gb but can hit 10gb with a 2gb micro sd cards(Giving it the highest amount of memory out of flashed based mp3 players.). Plays Videos and stores pictures and all. (Really small screen though so not much for movies, good screen though)

That is, if your interested in buying something more like your Ipod mini (small)
The Zen V plus is also pretty good for a small mp3 player. (I just don't like its controls)

They sell between 10-20 in a month "quoted from him" *ipod mini not being counted*....
Its all the older ones coming back after a year or two. Some new ones yet.
Being a person who has sold high end electronics, I would personally say its pretty bad actually...
Working in car audio for almost 10 years, one of the worst quality control companies that are big
is JVC, and out of the average around 50-60 cd or dvd decks we sold, generally only got 1 back a month if that.
Alpine the last year I sold them retail I personally sold between 50-75 a month the store ran between, and in the
nearing 2 years I worked for a company who retailed them, I believe I saw 2 come back, 1 was new, and the other
one was about 6 years old and under warranty. That I would consider quality control, being the other 3 stores we were
compared to in the area *about 75 miles*, it was extremely rare to see one come back not working.
Even out of the box broke was just something that was really rare.

i have seen an ipod break from being droped onto a bed in the pocket if a sweter(hoody) it was totaly useless after that, sent it back and apple wanted him to pay 75bucks to repair it(dispite it still haveing about 1month left on warr)
she said no and eventuly a manager (after over a month of back and forth) sent her a newer model, but he did try and say she was out of warr period by then(because they jerked her around)
by then she had already gotten a USED iriiver h240(think thats the model, one of the first 4gb units that played anyformat you threw at it) and years later guess what, IT STILL WORKS, its been droped, fallen down stares, sat on, its scratched up, has a crack on the screen lense and yet it still works 100% flawless!!!!

Ouch ya that hurts... My ex gf broke her ipod under warranty and had to send it back to apple to get it fixed, just now after almost 9 months, they sent her a newer model to replace it..... 9 fricken months...... You know I need to buy a mac for some software I run..... But as far as Apple goes I'm not very fanned of them....
I just hope they don't turn into a Packard Bell....
