Audio question

Well, my friend's audio is goofin up. He says that if he tries to play anything with audio over the internet, there's no sound, but if he plays iTunes or Windows media player, the sound works. Anybody have a clue? I don't mess with audio stuff so I'm not sure what to tell him. Thanks in advance for the input.

he may want to reinstall his audio drivers(updated ones ofcorse)
