The story:

6 Weeks after returning my faulty motherboard, i finally get a replacement... I open the box and find only a motherboard. I'd packed it with the original box, and all the accessories it had come with. So i phoned their support line, and i was told that they don't have my bits, and that i'd have to wait until another P5W DH Deluxe is returned so that they can give me the parts from that, which would leave someone else in the same situation.

They don't know when i will recieve the bits

They aren't willing to replace it with a new one off the shelf

I've been waiting 6 weeks, in which time I've needed the board! Now i have to wait indefinatly for my bits that they lost.

^
WTF!!!!

I'm going to have to contact Trading Standards i think. This is riddiculous. What do you think i should do?

One thing's for sure, i'm never buying anything from them again.

if you paid with a credit card , then u can challenge the charge , here is USA people usually have fraud protection program with their credit cards , which also covers lost merchandise or damaged merchandise credit , i had to do this once with an online site where they said they shipped something to me which i never got , but the would not take the charge off since they say they shipped it , so i challenged the charge through my credit card provider and they refunded me my money and dealt with them.

Thats out of order m8! They should really ask you to return the motherboard and wait for a new retail boxed one to be sent out. Usually Overclockers is pretty good, I think you got unlucky.

If I was you I would phone them and ask to speak to the manager, tell him your unhappy with the way youve been treated and tell them your going to contact trading standards and that you know your rights (Distance Selling Act: http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/fact-sheets/page24635.html ) and that you now would like a full refund and you will be taking your business elsewhere....this always works for me ;)

A word of advice, when returning a motherboard only include the I/O backplate, no leads, discs etc :D

cheers for the replies!

I sent them an email/webnote, so they have it all in writing now so there's no confusion. Just waiting for their reply now :)

And yeah, i shouldn't have included the cables, i'll remember that next time.

sorry to hear that man, but ocuk an u are both 50\50 here. on one hand ocuk should of told u to return jus the board, as their rma is the same as if u sent the board to the manufacturer to be fixed, an u should of guessed that was probably the dealy :p

but eitherway u shouldnt of had to wait 6 weeks for the damn board.

I have had lots of dealings with Overclockers UK, firstly they request RMA's in any case in the origional box with all accesories in any case. Generally I find them to be good on sales and usually pretty competative but they are not quite so keen when it comes to RMA's, I have had a couple of problems in the past, and they were GENUINE RMA's, they have my 1800XT for a warranty replacement at the moment and have had it for over 2 weeks, they tell you knothing unless you keep badgering them but I am glad that all has ended well.

Had it not, my advice would have been to approach the manufactrer of the board or their UK (if there is one) Headquarters, generally retailers negotiate prices and build up relationships with the manufacturer or their agents and dont like the likes of us blemishing their reputation, and yeah, if all else had failed get on to trading standards, if it is an RMA and it was faulty within the 30 day period then in UK law it is not deemed to be "fit for purpose" and I beleive they must replace it and I think must do so within 14 days of receipt or money back if they are unable, warranty returns however are not as strict and can be a "can of worms".

Finally... 59 days since sending my faulty board, i have recieved all of the bits and peices.

I think it's disgraceful that a simple RMA should take this long.

Anyway... i'll get my rig re-built tonight, and resume benchmarking! :D

That's a bunch of baloney, the customer is ALWAYS right.

From my experience the customer is usually wrong lol..... its just a handful of customers like this situation who are right...

unless you go into PC World of course where it would be almost impossible for anyone to know less about computers then the staff in there..... I lke to go in when I have long gaps between lectures and ask them loads of questions I know they won't be able to answer

I returned my 1800XT to them on 13th Jan so I am on 40 days right now, luckily I have my trusty 7900GTO, they did not communicate at all, on the 18th Jan I e mailed them to ask for confirmation they had received it, they replied yes and it was faulty, I could have told them that!!!! thats why I was fuc*i*g returning it, they then confirmed they had sent it to Connect 3D on 22 Jan and it takes a maximum of 28 days, well....erm that was 30 days ago and still heard nuffin.

I am in the process of setting up a company (overclocked cheap PCs) with a friend and we just hat a dead gfx card delivered from Ebuyer. RMA number was given online within one hour, next day the courier picked it up. It's two days later and I already have the refund. That's how it should be.

But on the other hand my private machine (system specs) is mostly built by parts bought from Overclockers and I once had a dead X800XL (basically started to burn first time the PC was turned on!) and I had a replacement in a few days, less than a week. So they are not always that bad. Probably depends on who is handling the RMA.

Not true, and you know that. Your own own comment makes you look foolish so I don't see the need to commant further, have a nice day :)

Overclockers.co.uk has always been reliable for me. I purchased a X1600Pro, RMA'ed it, received a X1650XT as a replacement four days after I POSTED the card to them
