View Full Version : S3 Drivers Get Vista Approval

For those who don’t know, S3 Graphics is a company which develops the Chrome series of graphics chips – although S3 was more successful before the 3D era, it is a company that still shows some potential and manufactures reasonable quality graphics chips. For anyone that uses a graphics card based on one of the Chrome S20 series you can now download Vista drivers (including those for the S25 and S27) which have been fully certified by Microsoft.

Ive heard of S3. Its the maker of the Savage Pro series of cards right?

I think you're right - I've never had experience with them and don't know an awful lot, but if I'm right they perform similar to the Nvida 6600s, so not great but ok.

ive got an s3 chip in my old thinkpad (lenovo) T22 from the year 2001. works pretty well considering.

they're very excellent when it comes to using almost no power. I kinda wish they would eventually come out with something a little more high powered though.

yeah the one that runs even with the 6600 uses only 15watts!!!!

S3 virge with a 3dfx voodoo - id like to see VGA makers go back to making 3d addon cards rather than multiple combined cards with 2d as well as 3d features.
