itunes failed to launch

well it basically that^ i installed itunes cause i just got the new shuffle but then i click on the icon it will not open i have tried using the start menu and also goin to straight to the exe file in program files i have uninstalled and re-installed loads of times but nothing seems to work and also quicktime does not work either
