I sold a game on Ebay, which was perfect. I double checked it before listing and just before shipping, and I had witnesses too, there were no scratches on the disc. When the guy received it, he claims it's scratched beyond hope and cant install it. You can ask Zek about the quality of my packing, so there is no way it could have been damaged in shipment.
He E-mails his complaint on Thursday, February 1st at 9:00 PM. He then proceeds to leave a negative feedback on Sunday, February 4th. 1 FREAKING business day and he claims no response to E-mail.
Sometimes, I want to tear my hair out!!!!!

Yep that happens. All you can do is bite the bullet. Leave negative feedback and hopefully redeem yourself with a comment. I tend to ignore 1 off negative feedback as im sure a lot of people do. You could reimburse him so you mutually withdraw feedback.
Unfortunately ebay arent allowed to remove negative feedback unless it is offensive or is to do with payment/delivery when proved. Otherwise they simply dont have the resources to screen every single negatie feeedback left.
Im also slightly pissed off with ebay today. I basically asked a seller a question and minutes later he withdrew the item. Ebay interpreted this as me buying it off him outside of ebay and warned me. :(

i bought a longines watch a couple of weeks ago, advertised as just been services,
the sorry SOB photoshoped cosmetical damage off the watch and the movement needs to be rechecked and cleaned, im waiting for day 90 to leave negative feedback,
(its a trick, you buy at night, and if something goes sour, you wait 90 days and leave negative feedback just before the 90 day window ends, that way he cant respond to the feedback or give you negative feedback in return)
Hey JC sorry to hear about that Ebay deal.Sounds like a real jerk,...is he selling anything?{hehe}

No way am I going to give the cash back. I am betting that he cracked the game and he wants his money back. I KNOW that it was fine, so I am going to comment on the feedback and slap one on him, it still sucks though.

Ya if you have good feedback and always pack stuff well, you can afford to say "kiss my rear" on occasion and if you write the proper comment anyone that is worried about it will read it and probably pick up on the idea of what happened. I have purchased lots of stuff from people with even a few recent bad marks that just looked silly... Never had a real issue with a seller yet, I only ever received 1 item that was said to be good and wasn't gave the seller like 2 weeks, she called me and just refunded my money, I wasn't in any real rush over it. Left good feedback no problems...
Had another seller took him almost 60 days to ship something out because he was moving his business... Okay it sucked, but he kept in contact with me and decided to refund my shipping charge, told me he would give the item for free to if I wanted for the wait, I let him keep his cash and left good feedback. Stuff happens, I can understand that, why can't most these ignorant stupid people...

@JC... that's just very unlucky experience.
When selling: Keep the photo's of the item... and take a photo of the package you ship. Any problem and you have evidence to work with.
Also check the age of buyers/sellers if possible. (You can do this by looking at the other things they have bought recently... and thier feedbacks... the language they used).
Most WORKING people dont have time to fxxk around on ebay. They are more likely to be honest. The dishonest ones tend to be:
1./ Unemployed... lots of time and no money
2./ Kids... lots of time, no money, sense of anonymity, and cool-to-screw someone
3./ Petty minded housewives... lots of time... overvalue the rubbish they are selling... everything THEIR way or the highway attitude
I have had only 2 problems... both with non-delivery (over 200 items bought). My gf has had 3 problems (only 20 items bought)... all these problems with women. This is not a sexist statement, but experience has shown to be careful ebaying with the "wrong kind of" woman.

I deal in all kinds of stuff, and the electronics people are SCUMBAGS. I have 928 unique feedback, 5 are negatives. 3 out of 5 were people trying to screw me out of electronics, and the other 2 were looney old bags that made shit up.
The reason the electronics people are scum is because most of them are 14-15 years old and are trying to screw me, just like you said.
You will find I am quite cold hearted when it comes to false claims. If it was working when it left here and it's not working when it reaches you, then there are two options. One, the shipping service broke it and two YOU broke it.
I go 110% to make sure everything is packed right and working when it leaves my house.

It's the law of averages... buyers and sellers, there's all types out there: some will bend over backwards if there's a problem and some are just assholes. Your buyer was apparently extremely impatiant, probably picky, just plain liar, or a complete asshole. If he was trying to get a refund, I doubt he would have posted neg feedback, but then again, go back to the impatient part - you didn't get back to him immediately and he assumed that you were non-responsive. Rule of thumb is give 3-5 days for a response, but most people aren't patient enought to do that... off my diatribe.

Tell me about it, I have learned to take my negs like a man, some people you just cant please. With video games, there are no refunds from me (I even have this in the listing) and the reason for that is there are too many no cd cracks running around.
How do I know that he didn't crack the game and now he wants his money back? Plus there is no guarantee that I will even get the game back, and then he sells it for profit and if I do get it back, I am sure he will have taken a fork to it.
You'll always find assholes, and unfortunately its more common in internet world. People trying to save a bit of money by screwing over other people. Like lemonadesoda said, im sure the anonymity of it all makes people think they are invincible, and can do what ever the hell they want.
Im sure with the feedback like you have, this wont put off any other eBay users. Unfortunately it happens to all good people.

ebay should definitely try to enhance its feedback ranking system. Not sure how to do it... but they should spend some serious dollars thinking about it.
Most forums work well because of some kind of "active policing" from moderators. Now I know the ebay model can't work the same way... but there does need to be something to make sure honest people dont get screwed over by dishonest one.
