About a week ago, Turner broadcasting tried to promote Aqua Teen Hunger Force (http://news.com.com/2300-1024_3-6155440-1.html) in Boston. However, this creative advertising, which involved hiding blinking electronic devices around the city, went dreadfully awry. The devices were misinterpreted as a terrorist attack, drawing a police response similar to 9/11. Public transportation, including entire roads and rivers, effectively halted as the city descended into a panic. At the height of the alert, Boston authorities mobilized bomb squads, federal agents, the coast guard, hundreds of officers, and emergency crews. Red faced, Turner broadcasting and marketing firm Interference agreed to pay $2 million USD as compensation for the disturbance.

boston city officials are a bunch of retards. those 'devices' were already around the city for days. not to mention the ad campaign had been running in other major cities as well. if it were a terrorist attack we in the US would all be dust.

btw, there wasn't much panic except for the bureaucrats. i live in boston, and didn't hear about it that night, and i drove most of that day listening to the radio.

so... basically, whoever deemed them to be bombs is retarded for escalating it so much

They did the same thing in San Fransisco. Two-thirds of the signs were still hanging there for about two weeks until the Boston thing. Now half of the signs are on E-bay selling from between $1000 and $3000.

Wow, just wow. This entire fiasco clearly portreys how much fear has been bestowed upon the american people. The media wich is controlled by the government has been trying to scare us into believeing that there are terrorists inside the US, while there is NO evidence that terrorists even commited the acts in 9/11 that everyone claims they have. And this isnt the first time it has happened either.
People need to stop believing the media (especially Fox news) and understand that them being afraid is exactly what the terrorists want (if that helps). The truth is that thats what the government wants so that they can rape the population and be greated to do so.

The terrorists have one. It is as simple as that. Any time where LEDs on a flat piece of plastic arranged in the form of a cartoon character is enough to be considered a bomb and freak out an entire city of idiots the terrorists have won.

I think the best part is that they did this in Chicago too, and our wonderful mayor actually said Boston overreacted. I was watching him talk about it on the news, I swear he was incredibly close to calling the Boston officials complete idiots. You could tell he wanted to say it so bad, but wanted to be P.C. about the issue.

Ok, first off, I am "off" today, but...

This thread, reminds me (for some reason) of the film "THEY LIVE" (cult classic w/ Rowdy Roddy Piper the wrestler in it)...

It must be the part about the devices around the city that 'triggered' that memory/comparison of it in me in the initial post's description.

:)

* Heh - know what? I am going to toss the flick in & watch it, lol... oldie, but a goody/classic!

APK

P.S.=> "Sleep", "Obey", "Marry & Reproduce", "Consume", lol... for those of you that have seen that? YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN... apk

better to be safe than sorry
risking the lives of the population isnt worth losing votes for underreacting to the threat
