i know its not real, but someone flamed the guy who posted it,and loads of people are defending the poster from the flamer.
obvious who the noobs are.
by the way,if you unzip it it turns out to be a "700mb" iso file.

So it is compressed infinitely?

It is about 10% tops. I'm no expert, but thats my guess.

I guess so. I guess you could zip a rar and inside that a zip and then a rar, but 700mb, the quadratic formula only helps so much. That would be... 521 zips + 522 rars.

It could just be a image of all the files but not the insides of them

could just be the files needed to make a vista cd bootable... assuming ur cd isnt already like where some folks xp cds didnt have the boot files

I KNOW IT"S A FAKE, but on the humour side -- " Microsoft presents it's new operating system which will bring future computing on our homes and offices. It's main feature is that it is just inside a 3.25" floppy disk !! "

Yes, you find these type of things on crack sites, they call them Backup CDs/DVDs, they are basically an image that is messed with so when you mount it with a virtual drive it looks like the real CD/DVD. You wont be able to install Vista from it so I don't really see any point to it.

Called a mini-iso. Used for games so you don't have to put the disk in...

it may extract to 4gb in size but still be only dummy files theres a mini image on the pirate scene that is 24mb but extracts to be 600mb iso the size of the real cd

Of coruse it's fake, the ISO contans no useful data most likely, no Vista anyway. Data like a Windows OS can't be compressed that far.

OMG I can't believe this thread is still alive? I thought you people were just joking. I mean seriously, if Windows could be compressed down that far don't you think Microsoft would do it? It would save so much money in distribution.

Ok so i scanned it with the newest Avast and no viruses. I also included a prtscrn of the compression info. i extracted it and it extracted as 2 files one a setup .exe and the other another folder that was in .rar format i unzipped that and got the iso and the serial number. it took about 15 sec elapsed in win rar to exrtraxct it. so then i took pictures of the progress.....the setup.exe looks like the real thing but the folder that holds like 718mb is a folder called sources.....this folder and its contets are also shown...

I really don't see why you guys are so mystified by this file
1. Darknova has already explained what this is.
2. No it's not really vista
3. No you can't install vista from it
4. It's physically impossible to compress the complex files used in Vista down to 1.5mb.

defo a fake, the best compression i have ever seen is manhunt the game, i downloaded a 190mb file and it uncompressed and installed about 1gig on my hard drive (all real files not mini/fake iso's etc) some multimedia compressors can do this but they are quite hard to use for those who are not used to compression in command line interface. :p
peace.

No chance, you could never compress a file that much ;)
