The REPUBLICAN party?

:(

They were hired to do a job of fixing this nation, yet they're just leading it into ruin, farther & farther...

Hey: Were you & I to do such jobs? We'd be fired...

Err, excuse me, 'downsized', another wonderful TREND that has evolved during their tenure, along w/ 'outsourcing'...

What do these politicians instead see? IIRC, their entire FULL pay once they are out of their term in office, for the REST OF THEIR DAYS!

What do regular folks see though? ENRON DEALS, & union busting.

Yes, the TRUE criminals are @ the top now folks...

Personally? I'd rather see guys elected from State Prisons, because @ least you KNOW they have criminal traits, & probably cost this nation FAR LESS than the current 'elite' governing body has, led by 'republicans'... the convicts would probably do a better job, having no doubt suffered @ the hands of these SCUM: the TRUE criminals folks.

Yes, & this magnificent WASTE OF MONEY, 'fighting terrorism & rebuilding freedom' for the IRAQI's... heck, if those folks are SMART? They will avoid our ideas of "freedom" like a plague.

No small wonder, they don't WANT it.

NOW, what about OUR freedom, & OUR jobs & well-being, here in the U.S.A., as citizenry of this nation??

By the way: Where ARE those "WMD's" in IRAQ anyhow? Oh yea, fallguys called the Intelligence Community ALMOST got played... but, truth is?? They don't make the decisions... they only provide data.

It is up to those READING the data (doubt they did) to make decisions based on it, & when it comes to sending our bro's & sis's into that deathtrap overseas, you had BEST BE DAMNED SURE YOU ARE RIGHT... & not go off "1/2 cocked" as they did.

APK

P.S.=> The ONLY good part of all this is, they are ruining for themselves, for good & all time... Now, above all - If folks don't like that, all I can say is "argue w/ the results around you the past 2 terms of Mr. Bush's 'presidency'!

(The 2 faked & stolen election ones, both terms (or, don't Florida & Ohio ring ANY bells))... apk

oh god, here we go again

Maybe, but I challenge anyone to disprove the results around us... that's all.

(Like I said above: Argue w/ the results & facts staring us all in the face out there today - the rest of the planet HAS to be either laughing @ us, or pitying the heck out of us!)

Worst part is, I think it is going to get even worse, instead of better.

Are there worse conditions in nations around the planet? Yes, of course, but let me tell you ALL what I think one of the WORST THINGS IN THIS LIFE IS:

Having the taste of good things put in your mouth, so-to-speak, & then having it yanked away, slowly... "death by erosion", like cancer.

APK

P.S.=> I don't KNOW about you guys, but when I take a GOOD LOOK around me, & what those lunatics have done & continue doing? It makes me VERY upset...

Things today, on MANY levels, aren't what they used to be folks, face it, & whose responsibility is it to run things right in this nation??

Those in control... hey, when it came to shattering the air traffic controllers unions, Reagan did a job on them... why not the same to the 'elite side', instead of the workers, eh?

The potential problem for the rest of the planet? An economic one:

The saying goes "When the USA gets a cold, the rest of the world gets the FLU!" economically... hurt this buying public, one of the largest there is? You get hurt too... apk

Today's politicians only want to make money, we havn't had a true leader since President Truman. I say make politics illegal, we always end up with bad choices, they are all either Crooks, Theives or lyers. How about a Bag Boy, a Programmer, or better yet a Teacher. Politics is the problem regardless of the "Party".

Oh,OH; I hear 'them' comming for me!!

we have lots of political bs in australia atm

all of our politicians are campaigning for reduced greenhouse emissions and they are all chaffeured to work in taxpayer funded V8 Holden Caprice's.

we are in a drought (a really bad one) and we have farmers going out of business. The drought has been a problem for the last few years in particular, and they have only just begun discussing desalination plants to use seawater for water use. And they have even talked about using sewage effluent for water.

Many of our farmers have gone broke (suicide is the highest cause of death in our rural areas), and instead of fixing the massive pipes that leak MILLIONS of litres of water wastage every day they have instead decided to drain an underground lake...i bet it will end in an ecological problem sometime in the next 3-5 years.

This is what happens when we have bullshit artists in charge when we should have specialists leading the way
eg - diplomats, lawyers, police, water companies, power companies, scientists and engineers

Man, it's like a CONTAGIOUS PLAGUE... starting to spread. All it takes, is 1 bad apple to ruin a barrel... as the saying goes.

I am sorry to hear that about Australia, because over time, I have really LIKED the Aussies I have met & heard nothing but GOOD about your nation in fact (I have family there in Queensland iirc - they work for "OP" last I knew of).

This is what happens when we have bullshit artists in charge when we should have specialists leading the way

Perfect... & I agree - this goes on not only in politics, but in "upper mgt." in this nation in business, like MAD... I've seen it, you all probably have too: Guys being "CIO's" who have NEVER done nearly anything hands-on in this field, yet have that title & run guys that have?

Uh, excuse me: That's downright stupid. How can somebody make GOOD decisions, if they have not experienced a job & what it entails in ALL of its details & for years, themselves?? Experience matters. Professional experience & LOTS of it.

It's almost like a plague man, a mental/spiritual/moral plague, started by what I 'affectionately' (NOT) call the BBC (billionaire boys club, for whom there is NEVER enough).

I could not have said it better than you did... nuff said!

APK

P.S.=> The ONLY truly rich man that I admire today? Bill Gates, of course... he @ least SOMEWHAT knows this field, and does great things w/ his wealth... is he completely honest? OF COURSE NOT - who is? But, he's better than most & his accomplishments w/ Microsoft speak worlds alone... apk

NO. Its like a total noob going into a hardware store "um can i have the best drill"

I guess I am the only lucky one.I am by no means rich, but in the last few years I have made more money than at my regular job in the stock market.

Personally, I believe that the stock market is a LARGE PART of what is going wrong & why... nothing against you personally, you're just out there working it to make a living for yourself & yours.

And because government revenues is up higher than it ever has been in post WW2 times

Yea, tax the hell out of the poor, & keep spending it on IRAQ! Sound logic...

the deficit is going to be paid off over 50 YEARS sooner than projected just 3 years ago, even with the war....

Care to PROVE that statement? Maybe in a 300 yrs. - 50 yrs. you'd be right, but... doubt it. I wonder who's going to be right on that account though:

You, or me? Actually, I HOPE you are.

Funny though: Greenspan quit his job... the "master of economics" couldn't fix humpty dumpty once he started falling down either... why? Those making a killing can't get enough apparently... how much, I wonder, is enough??

When all workers make minimum wage probably & are starving illiterates most likely, good slaves... better than debt makes us already.

ENRON & the like... makes me ill. It truly does.

them DAMN TAX CUTS!!!! I guess some people are going into ruin farther and farther, but it ain't me or any one I work with or associate with,..as know of anyway.

I'm not in ruin, in fact, I am doing pretty well... but, I travel a LOT for a living, especially the past 14 yrs. or so now... & things are bad, overall, worse than they were prior to BUSH this is certain, all over this nation.

You, of all people, since you are involved somewhat w/ the economic cycle, should realize that when you hurt the masses, & take their jobs or leave them w/ crap jobs, that they aren't able to spend on goods & services from the companies whose stocks you trade... think it doesn't come back around to EVERYONE?

Not a Bush fan,...this is just my reality.

You sound angry confused and depressed.Lets just get rid of the stock market and all will be fixed,...

I didn't say "get rid of it" first of all... don't put words in my mouth, ok? That is fair of me to ask.

I believe I will exit this thread on that bizarre note.

AND, You're running is all when you say you are leaving this thread & maybe you are right though!

Hey - if guys like Greenspan couldn't fix the mess, you & I certainly are NOT going to... Oh, I have some ideas, but if I put them out, I'd get called a radical left winger (get labelled, the classic attack) etc. probably!

I see you state things, but you run when it comes time to prove or back them up? Please... @ least what I state, I put out valid examples others have seen & understand as well.

(& yes, damn right: I am ANGRY about it, & I should be - you ought to be as well, if you read what I wrote above, & not @ my words, but the 'state of the nation')

Confused though? Far from it...

(I just see what MOST folks do, & have those I know close to myself hurt badly by it.)

Now, if you think the stockmarket doesn't have SOMETHING to do with things?

Well, folks who are into it (including me) only look @ their portfolios like a poker player looks @ his cards he is dealt imo...

They could give a HOOT whether said company (& its employees) lives or dies, JUST GIMME MY MONEY YESTERDAY! The days of 1 guy controlling a company totally, & NOT BY "COMMITTEES" (of ripoff artists, or does ENRON & the like not show this) is a thing of the past...

Bill Gates: I will give him 1 thing - he did well, & saw an idea/vision thru... building that 'better mousetrap', so much so? His competitors got the best money could buy (US Politicians & the like) after him, lol, & still... they failed!

The world is no longer about GREAT men anymore - only crooked committees.

Again though - you run a company into the ground (like ENRON) you ruin folks by ripping them off... you leave them with crap jobs after, IF ANY AT ALL?

Well, who's going to buy those stocks from those companies if they have no coin to invest??

Who will buy their goods & services, if they have no 'disposable income' to spend on them???

Man, nothing against you personally SK-1: You're just living your life best you know how... but, some of what you said Sk-1? I don't get it!

(Especially saying I said "get rid of the stock market" & that I was 'angry & confused')

APK

P.S.=> LEGALIZE MARIJUANA & tax the HELL out of it in distribution & create jobs for its production... I don't care what anyone says: WEED does not make violent criminals, far from it!

Just to help offset the debt. & if BUSH wants to make wars? Then, why not "war on drugs" for real - head down to Columbia, Peru, & Bolivia etc., & destroy the cocaine crop... for starters!

Wait though - iirc, Mr. Bush has a penchant for the white stuff, doesn't he? Oh NO... can't do that! lol...

Plus, going @ the drug trade FULL ON? Well, it'd take away the 'raison d'etre' for the DEA & the like too... why stop the disease @ the source (& it's not street dealers making a mint from it, it's those ABOVE them, often wealthy too) when you can sell the US public a 1,000 palliatives, right? apk

IMO the government should flood the market themselves with drugs
the cartels would go out of business, and the government would be the ones making the money. They could do this on a On and Off basis, so as not to make people addicted, but to make HUGE profit losses for the drug dealers and their respective cartels

# Filmmaker Michael Moore insists that corporations are evil and claims he doesn't invest in the stock market due to moral principals, but his IRS forms viewed by Schweizer show that he has owned shares in such corporate giants as Halliburton, Merck, Pfizer, Sunoco, Tenet Health Care, Ford, General Electric and McDonald's.

# Staunch union supporter Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California and her husband received the Cesar Chavez award from the United Farm Workers union. But the $25 million Northern California vineyard she and her husband own is a non-union shop.

# Pelosi has received more money from the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees union than any other member of Congress.

# She and her husband own a large stake in an exclusive California hotel with more than 250 employees – none of them union.

# The Pelosis also are partners in a restaurant chain with 900 employees – also a non-union shop.

# How about Ralph Nader, who claims unions are essential to protect workers' rights – but when an editor of one of his publications tried to form a union, the editor was fired.

# Self-described socialist Noam Chomsky has described the Pentagon as "the most vile institution on the face of the earth" and lashed out against tax havens and trusts that benefit only the rich. But Chomsky has been paid millions of dollars by the Pentagon over the last 40 years and has used a law firm to set up his irrevocable trust to shield his assets from the IRS.
# Air America radio host Al Franken calls conservatives "racists because they lack diversity and oppose affirmative action." Yet fewer than 1 percent of the people he has hired over the last 15 years have been African-American.

# Ted Kennedy has fought for the estate tax and has spoken out against tax shelters, but he repeatedly benefits from an intricate web of trusts and private foundations shielding most of his family's fortune from the IRS. One such Kennedy family trust wasn't even set up in the United States – but in Fiji.

# Barbra Streisand talks about the necessity of unions to protect a living wage, but she prefers to do her filming and post-production work in Canada so she can pay less than American union wages.

# Bill and Hillary Clinton speak in favor of the estate tax. Yet in the year 2000 Bill vetoed a bill seeking to end it. The Clintons have set up a contract trust allowing them to reduce the amount of inheritance tax their estate will pay when they die.

# Billionaire George Soros says the wealthy should pay higher, more progressive tax rates, but he holds the bulk of his money in tax-free overseas accounts in Curacao, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

Liberal Hypocrisy in action. It is not a one way street my friend. And I still think anger lurks in you, just by the way you post. And never assume that one has not been around.I do not need to rant on and on to get a point across.

And never assume that one has not been around.I do not need to rant on and on to get a point across.

I didn't rant, I just stated things (& never once put words in your mouth you never stated, because I did not assume things)!

Once again, as you did above about the Stock Market (saying I said it ought to be destroyed, when I never did) - you're trying to put words in my mouth once more.

Liberal Hypocrisy in action. It is not a one way street my friend.

First of all - I never said it was, did I? There's always "exceptions to the general rule", but this is NOT about them (from my perspective).

I am talking about Mr. BUSH & his "war for freedom", question is - who's freedom? The war profiteers freedom, imo, & @ the US taxpayer's expense.

Also, that's pretty typical, on 2 counts:

Labelling folks as "liberals" & then singling out individuals & use them as examples - ever heard of Richard M. Nixon (watergate), Ronald Reagan (the debt master, & union breaker)??

How many more do I have to bring up??? ANSWER -> I don't: Again, it's NOT ABOUT THE INDIVIDUALS YOU POINT OUT.

To me @ least, I am talking about the state of this nation - due to BUSH & the current republican party's lack of success & creating a war based on FALSE PRESTENSES! Mismanagement, w/ a "hidden agenda" (hidden in plain sight no less).

SO, how many soldiers are dead because of MR. BUSH'S WAR and HOW MANY TRILLIONS ARE WE IN DEBT BECAUSE OF IT NOW?

Yea... "stay the course", sure OK - get over to IRAQ Mr. Bush & Mr. Cheney, & then I will say that too, once I see YOU TWO out there risking your necks... how's that?

And I still think anger lurks in you, just by the way you post.

I never said I wasn't angry (about the mess BUSH is making) & even admit to it above - didn't I?

I am VERY angry about the sheer mess BUSH is putting on us, so Cheney & Haliburton profit by it & all their 'cronies & sycophants'!

I'm not your typical "Do what the T.V. tells me is 'right', playing a role, sycophant" who plays the 'politically correct game', going w/ the flow... because folks like that DISGUST me. They're actors imo... @ best, & deceitful slime @ worst.

Has this view of mine caused me problems before? Yes, absolutely... but, I could live w/ myself afterwards & look those close to me in the eye & feel good about 'me'... it has also, by contrast, made me a LOT of money a couple times.

(Considering 1/4 of the U.S. population is on somekind of medication for mental issues, & I'm not? I'd consider myself the 'normal one' - drugs don't make your problems get better 9/10 times imo, they make it worse... mainly because I think getting angry about things that are WRONG, is necessary. Otherwise, if you don't say something or do something about it, it just keeps going on & on.)

APK

P.S.=> Also, what I find rather odd, & funny is, aren't politicians in office supposed to give up ties to business' they were involved in to dedicate time to the job of their office? IIRC, Jimmy Carter had to in his plantations, why not Cheney?? Because he is only there to GAIN, @ our expense is why... apk

The Netherlands always stood for a great country, but the last ten years it's going downhill.

Social standards are degrading fast. That's one off the greatest problems imo. It all starts with a bit off common sence. And that is hard to find here. It's more everyone for them self.
