i'm having problems with my dads motherboard cause its not detecting the hdd's at all and i swapped them so many times.
its an intel p4 3.0ghz
i think 512mb ram of something
allied psu 450 watts
and some drivers blah
anyone have any ideas to why its not working i checked the bios and all that
telling wich are the hdd's would help
have you tried them on other board?

yeah i tried em with every other board its just that this motherboard won't detect it so what should i do. its probably a seagate 80 gig one 7200

The P4 series of motherboards is notourious for random faliures to detect HDDs upon POST. Just leave it for a few days and then try again, it will work (good luck).

man i thought it was the motherboard. maybe if i change the cpu it'll recognize it.... -_-

I have used same p4p800-MX (micro ATX) board without problems. Try pulling battery and resetting non-volatile memory. Also go for BIOS update. A bad BIOS or non-volatile can cause all kinds of mysterious headaches

This is SATA or IDE hdds? Maybe it's a SATA controller problem?

okay i found out that it was the motherboard i swapped 3 different cpu's and i don't think its the cable at all. bye bye motherboard.
