you can costmize it anyway u like, tons of skins, secure, FAST(even on 56k) FREE and smaller then FF.

also its got IRC chat, email, torrent and news clients built in :)

In some ways it's good for you guys (Opera users) that the browser never truly took off in the same way that Firefox did. I'm not saying it's badly written, but it is a fact that the more widely used a piece of software is, the more people will try to hack it. Because Opera is a good browser and few people use it, it's actually a decent choice - there isn't much incentive for the hackers to find flaws in it.

Personally Firefox has something I like, so I stick to that, but the only problem I ever had with Opera was the old ad banner, but generally speaking it was good. On todays internet connections and quick computers nearly all of the browsers seem to be about the same speed, but Opera has always had a reputation of being fast.

How could you? It's the:

MOST standards compliant (iirc, only 1 that has passed the ACID2 test in fact)

Based on all of that? The coders there are NOT imo @ least, winning security via "security by obscurity" as it is called & you are stating...

Well, FireFox is decent, but I just have gotten SO used to Opera, that I tend to use it more... but I DO use all 3 browsers here @ home.

On todays internet connections and quick computers nearly all of the browsers seem to be about the same speed, but Opera has always had a reputation of being fast.

On today's internet, fast or not overall? It still wins the tests I have seen, overall, & on the MOST hardware platforms & really WAILS on Windows (most used PC OS platform there is, bar none)...

ff is also easyer to hack because ITS OPEN SORCE!!!!

open sorce is good in some ways, but bad in others, the fact that the sorce is readly avalable means people can tweak it and fix problems/add fetures themselves but it also means that those who wish to exploit buggs/holes in browsers can do so far easyer then they can with opera because to find opera holes they gotta spend alot of time doing trial and error, with ff they can just look at the code dirrectly to find buggs.

extnetions are a dbl edge sword, adding fetures but also able to add exploits and make the browser unstable.

opera has widgets u can use to add stuff like weather if you feel the need, personaly i just want my browser to brows securly and fast, the IIRC/email/news clients are simply a bonous :)

Good points all, but especially that of FF being OpenSource, because that CAN be used against it.

Is there any equivilent to ad-block or no-script for Opera - those are the two things I like best about Firefox atm, with all the security problems websites present nowadays?

Edit: hold on a sec, I'm already an Opera user - my Wii's browser is based on Opera! Not that I trust it on that... I have so little control over everything on that, I'd never check my emails or consider buying something. My Wii is in DMZ after all, whilst my PCs have software and hardware firewalls protecting them.

I use no-ads for pop ups..

Never had an issue with FF haven't used Opera for like ohhh 6 years or so..

Haven't used IE(xploiter) in ohhhhh since I can remember..

Don't do it to "please us", do it so you can experience something diff. that you MAY like, after all: It's YOUR "Pc experience" & all that...

Folks here've turned me onto a few wares, & once I tried them (or, tried them again, as in the case of the latter example I use)? I liked them, a LOT...

E.G.-> VLC as my media player (love the fact it comes w/ codecs BUILT-IN) & RAXCO PerfectDisk (excellent defragger - better on single-pass manual defrags than my former fav, Diskeeper).

It has popup blocking "built-in", & scripting control is built in as well (Tools menu, Quick Preferences, or FULL preferences)...

I go a bit above that w/ something called a .pac file (works w/ proxy entries area in browsers to block ads & popups as a sort of pre-processing filter) & also HOSTS blocking for adbanners, for those type of things as well (big into 'layering defenses' here)...

Yeah, I've managed to find the content blocker - admitedly it isn't as good as Ad-Block Plus, but with a bit of training I could get used to it.

I'll probably do the same with Opera as I did with Firefox, leave it on my PC even though I don't use it much and try to do a bit of casual surfing with it from time to time so that I can get used to it. It doesn't seem noticably quicker than Firefox, but TBH all webpages load quick on my connection now so it's quite hard to measure without actually running proper tests.

I've been using it for sometime now. I almost die if I have to use another browser, though I do have FF and IE just in case you know. I personally always found Opera to be better at pop-up protection then FF on a standard install, I was never much into adding things.
