Please check if the new option helps with the fan control noise on the X850 .. it is enabled only for "fixed" fan speed right now. If it works i'll add it to the other methods too.

I had the same problem as Opium. When I tried to keep my settings, the installation crashed and rebooted my computer. I tried it again, clearing the old settings this time, and it installed fine.

Game 'MORROWIND' doesn't shut down all the way, Windows Error Report appears in the blacked out screen, requests a send or don't send after intentionally Exiting the game and the reset function in 3D Detection doesn't restore to setttings 'Clocks before App launched'. Artifact set to beep when artifact found... 30 sec heat up phase is supposed to start.
Worked with Beta 4, ran Scan for Artifacts for 3 mins in Beta 5 no heat phase started.

usually atitool changes the base frequency the PWM circuit is running at to give you finer percentage steps .. in the x850 this does not work because of some weird electrical pcb design and some noise is generated once atitool changes the base frequency .. all this switch does is NOT change the frequency so the x850's make no sound .. at least they shouldnt .. no feedback on this yet

as far as i remember the fan control circuitry is not connected to the fan output on the 9600 .. the fan is hardwired to +12v

I have a Samsung SATA SP1614C..(some people talk about this HD does not support aam...but it does 100%)..

With older Versions sometimes the value wasnt changed by AtiTool..but now its perfect! Nice Option...

Thanks, was hoping it had something todo with the rattle noise effect because of the PWM Impulse based FanControl on the x800 cards, but i guess it's not fixable?

Hi all, sorry but 1.24b4 crashed (around 556 or so, screen goes black as if entering hibernation, but never coems out until a hard reset) on "Max Core" app when it got to a certain point, peaks @ 560 or so, then works it's way down to 554 where stability stays constant for hours. B3 however (btw b3 is the most stable for me in some time) went foreever until I abort. Downloaded 1.24b5 and will test and report back asap,

Refresh Rate Fix isn´t working for me (and I don´t want to need it), but with enabled Refresh Rate Fix Need For Speed Underground will not launch, Game is exiting directly. Need For Speed Underground 2 (DEMO-Version) is starting with no screen (hearing the sound).

Well if you overclock your card too much thats whats going to happen, so therefore it found the max and has gone above it, causing that error. Restart your PC and open ATITool, it will say what the last working setting was, set it to that and then do the same with the memory :)

ABout right. I get ~310 FPS average on my X800 XT PE (at 550 core). but thats with 4 times as many pipelines and 15% more core clock.

I have a problem loading almost any of the plug ins under the hardware monitor. The ATi temps one works, the LM78 doesnt do anything when you load it, neither does the uGuru plugin and when loading the HDD plugin ATItool creashes and takes 77% CPU and 1000MB of ram (!).

I got a blue screen with this beta

It happened when I was trying to mess around with the miscellaneous menus (for fan control, changing the AGP latency, etc). But when the bluescreen happened, I wasn't doing anything except navigating through the menus, to make sure my fan speed was set to 100%, and my AGP latency was set to 32.

did anybody try the fan control on the x850 yet?

it works on fixed speed option, the sound is absent now.
I can do test for you on my x850 but i would like to be sure that this electrical thing cannot damage my card or the fan card.
A thing that i do not understand is why the rpm sensor gives 4% if no fan control options is activated?
It's impossible that ati fixed at 4% the rpm speed of the fan for default.

My request stands, and if i bloats AtiTool, thats for W1zzard to say, i just think it would be handy to have if not all, some more setings on the tray like Geometry Instancing, Catalyst AI and DXT texture formats, so that we dont have to load the realy bloated CCC!

Yes I can do that check for you. Will moving in 5Mhz increments be fine enough?

I have attached the log file. Moving 5Mhz at a time I lost GPU Temp at 585 and then GPU Env at 590. I only moved the Core speed and did not touch memory speed at all. The reason you will see temps moving up and down is that I was opening and closing the 3d view to make sure temps were changing.

BTW, ATI Tray Tools does not have this problem, but I don't like ATI Tray Tools, I like ATITool much better.

It locks your monitor HZ in games.

Eg. you set it at 100 hz in 1024x768 and eg. 85hz in 1600x1200.

So when your playing a game in 1024x768 your monitor HZ is locked to 100 and in 1600x1200 to 85.

Why lock hz?
Well if not, you will problerly be playing games in 60 Hz, which an be very hard for your eyes.

Why use AtiTool to lock Hz and not use the buildin function in ATI Catalyst Control Center?
Well in CCC you are only able to set one Hz for all resolutions, which means if you play games in 1600x1200 and in 1024x768, you have to set your Hz to a level which your monitor can handle in 1600x1200, which maybe is 85 Hz or even lower, say 75 Hz. Then when you launch a game in 1024x768 you will only get 75 Hz, which is a shame as your monitor proberly could do 100 Hz :)

First of all, top tool, good work ;)

I have a Connect3d X850XT.

The PWM Frequency lock works great with this card, no noise :D

Only thing is, when I restart or boot PC, if I have 'Overide fan speeds' enabled, when windows loads, it sets the new fan speed and I have that noise :confused:

If I have 'Overide fan speeds' disabled when I boot/restart, there is no problem, as the fan stays at the default 4%. I can then enable 'Overide fan speeds' with PWM checked without getting any noise :).

It seems as though the PWM checkbox doesnt work when windows first loads. Even if I then change fans speeds, the noise remains. The only way to get rid of noise is to reboot with 'Overide fan speeds' disabled then go in and apply 'Overide fan speeds' :(

Edit:
Ater some more testing, it seems that the noise only occurs if I boot with 'Dynamic based on GPU Temperature' enabled. If I boot with 'Fixed Percentage' enabled I don't get that noise.

Also, 'Try to keep GPU temperature at:' is greyed out for me
