Hi all... I have some problems with Half-Life 2. When i start game on my Radeon 9600 with new softmoded drivers and anti-aliasing i have following problem: Lights are strange blocks and textures on some weapons are wrong. Can you give me advice? Thx
P.S. : When I off anti-aliasing everything be all right.

Card: Sapphire Radeon 9600 128MB (324/202@360/250)
Drivers: softmoded Catalyst 5.3
This card is lockout for overclocking when you using original drivers.

okay because for me softmodded drivers are for 8 pixel pipelines with an 9500 or something.
but then, but i dont know actually maybe temporal anti aliasing. but i personally have the same probs

Could you be more specific on what errors you're seeing in HL2? A screenshot would be best, however.

are you serious? hes artafacting. tell me, do the artafacts come from the dead center of the screen raying out to all sides and corners? if so its a heat problem. if textures and spots on the screen turn diffrent colors and go crazy its shadow settings and artafacting, this is usually caused with drivers, core speed and memory speed. try kicking them down a few notches. i artafact at core speed 600, when i bring it to 590 it disapears (i keep it at a steady 575 :) ). do you still artafact at noAA? i run hl2 with 4AA now, i used to run 2 but it was insulting. i hope this helps.

LEWL! this whole post is about artifacts. omfg we need to start a sticky telling noob about artifacts, and heat artifacts. lower core speed. dont softmod.

Aliasing is the occurence of jagged edges on curved and diagonal lines. Since all pictures on your screen are made of square blocks this is unavoidable. Anti-Aliasing attempts to remedy this problem through pixel shading and other methods. The result is an overall increase in image quality at a cost to preformance.
