Ive had some time now to reflect on many things about life. I am creating this thread in hopes to try and spark something.
My challenge to you all today,....this week.....how bout from here on out....Go out of your way to be nice and help someone instead of holding back your knowledge. When you feel the urge to spam, hijack, flame, or troll, resist it. Try respecting the Mods even if you dont agree with them or the politics involved. How about making sure your post is not offensive, bashing, or slamming; and instead is as informative and helpful as possible before you submit it. You might be surprised, you might actually have a better day/week/year by doing this. Are you up to the challenge????

Agreed with everything said and tigger you are right too. I Try to live my life by being nice, a Christian life as it were. I do my part to help out homeless and hungry people and the elderly and veterans, because they all deserve our love and respect. Thats one thing that would fix alot of the problems of the world : love and respect. Its just said that it takes extreme changes in our lives to realize that. We, as Americans (not sure about you other countries, sorry about that and not meant to offend anyone) take alot of our stuff for granted. I for one do and I talk to my wife about it alot. Hell, we are by no means "rich" like Bill Gates, Donald Trump, etc (millionaires either) but we are rich in life, family and what we have. We have come a long way from where we were when we started. To see what we have acquired and all that..its a blessing I Wouldnt trade for anything in the world. So...while this was a tad off tangent..I though I Would speak my mind on it. Thanks Linkin...

Kindness is contagious, and I wanted to be that first domino. If we all did one positive, wonderful thing a day, imagine how much better the world could be. Whether its @ work, @ home, on the 'net, on the streets, regardless of who we are, and where we are. The forums are a great place to "practice". :toast:
I've got a challenge already going im afraid. Who can steal the coolest thing in 2 weeks! :p
Back on topic: I have the upmost respect for all the mods, especially Zek and W1z who do a fantastic job here.

I love being respected :D.
I just thought you had a small experience with flaming either on our boards or some other place, and were just reminding everyone how much flaming sucks. Some of us still can't get the Alecstar/Newtekie1 incident off our minds (I do NOT want to see a huge discussion start about this....that in itself usually leads to flaming).
Anyways. I like this challenge, but....for me, it's not exactly a challenge, I watch myself closely already :). And considering the general lack of infractions we've had to hand out (and what the few infractions we do give out are for), I'd say you guys do too :toast:.

Disagree with you there Tig ... the Mods should be respected until they've given a reason not too ... for an example a new member joins... he doesn't have to respect the mods until they earn it??? not sure I follow that one ...

First of all you won't know he is a child molester, if it was known he wouldn't be a cop. Secondly you won't respect him because he did something to lose any respect, molesting kids that is.
The point was, comparing to your copper, if you run into a cop whom you don't know you show him respect. If you're new to these forums you show respect to mods, to anyone actually.
If you have problems with respecting others without comparing them to child molesters first you have a serious issue and I'm not qualified to talk to you about it.

Sorry to spoil your day Linkin, but you aren't the first domino. That concept, and the actuality, of sharing knowledge is what created TPU and made most of us members google here, join, and stay.

My friend you havent spoiled my day...........and Im not trying to replace the foundation for TPU. I simply felt that I could jumpstart or spark some extra generosity. Unfortunately some people seem to have already failed the challenge. "Could you not watch with me one hour?" We dont always have to post something negative to "spoil" someone's day, however we could be more postive and supportive. :toast: Hmmm...just a thought. Too much pride sometimes here and not enough humbleness. :) The whole idea for this thread was to get people more motivated and more positively active in the forums and the wiki!

Linkin... I'm not disagreeing with your OP! Please don't misunderstand. I'm fully behind it... and that's why we love TPU... not for the chat or flaming... but for the sharing of knowledge.
Anyway, you are NOT THE FIRST DOMINO, and you will NEVER BE A DOMINO... because you, mate, will not be falling down. :toast:

Respect must always be earned. It should never just be given to any person, or group of people, by default. Still, you disrespect the moderators at your own risk.

I don't think tigger69 meant it the way you mods seem to be taking it. His point is that mods should not go throwing their weight around... or that their opinion is "right" just because they are mods or admins.
His point is that an argument is won by tenacious use of facts and knowledge, not won via the banstick threat. And that respect is earned by observing a mod act, behave, write, argue in a tactful manner. Until this "respect is earned", they are just people with power. Just like if you go in as a junior employee in a company, you follow the orders of your boss. But you dont "stand behind him, love him, and believe in his every action" until he's earned that respect from you.
From the threads I've seen of tigger69, he's not much of a trouble maker... so I'm not sure why people are getting so touchy by his comment? Personally, I think some people are getting hung-up on the word "respect". If you need to come to a forum to "get respect"... or if you need to be a teacher "to get respect"... or you need to boss people around "to get respect"... then you're just another brick in the wall.
TEACHER, LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE.

Bonkers.. Tig is in no way a trouble maker and I wasn't touchy by his comment and was only disagreeing with his initial comment... which I think his response to wasn't as he would have liked it to be, but given the way you have stated I can agree with and more than likely what he meant...
Linkin ... I appologize for taking the thread off topic and I commend you for thinking of the community as whole ... a little generousity can be contagious :toast:
Can't say that I agree with you there Polaris, though understand I mean no disrespect.
Indeed, if more of the worlds population were to respect a person or group of people by default there would be far less unpleasantness and strife in the world today.
It is the complete lack of respect for other people that causes so much unnecessary suffering and discord. ie drink driving/bullying/rape/flaming/excessively loud music in a block of flats/wars/sexual harrasment/etc, etc. etc
If respect must always be earnt then we are constantly looking for and expecting the worst from people until proven otherwise.
While i'm not saying that that is intrinsically wrong, it does tend to leave people falling into the glass is half empty camp and reality fulfilling the unconscious projection of a harsher and demoralised world.
Respect people as a matter of course and the world is a much more agreeable place.
Of course, should that respect be abused then by all means take what action you may deem necessary to rectify the situation, but not be surprised if in return even less respect towards you is forthcoming.

Respect goes beyond the common courtesy every human being deserves. It is impossible to respect someone you do not know, yet by default they still deserve polite treatment. There is a difference between being nice to someone and respecting them. In my mind respect and politeness are not synonyms even though to many people they are.
I, of course, apologize for my contribution to getting this thread off topic. I agree with, Linkin and wholeheartedly accept his challenge.
Uhm I want to... but I'm afraid.. uh.. idk if i can handle it.. hehe.. nahh im kiddin of course.. :p I totally agree.. well if you want to learn how to know nothing come ask me..lol..I know all about nothing..lol. heck if it wasnt for you guys I wouldn't of even known what to order.. now I have a big pile of new computer parts.. lol.. but at least their the right parts..lol.. I'll figure it out eventually. :D
