The rumours regarding a new black Xbox 360 have been fuelled even more by game magazine Game Informer. Despite the story appearing the April issue of the magazine, the editors are reassuring readers that the story is true and not a cruel April Fools joke on hardcore 360 fans. If the information is true, the new console will feature a 120GB hard drive and HDMI out (as well as being black of course) – but it does not include a HD DVD drive. The console should be priced at $479, and the article claims that the new larger hard drive will be available to current 360 owners at a price of under $200.

sweet deal, but sucks for all current Xbox 360 owners. Now if MS would make the new HDD priced at 99 USD, I would have no wocmplains. But "under 200" probally means 199 USD for a 120GB hard drive is way to much...

btw: I do not care bout HDMI as the VGA cable gives me the same output on my 24 inch dell.

cheers

It's OK for me...my 50" Samsung 1080p HDTV up-converts 1080i Signals to 1080p so I'm OK with using component video. It may not be native 1080p, but no Xbox 360 games are either...yet.

I'm also planning on buying a black Xbox 360 case as well so no problem for me and I'm sure (hope) that Microsoft will release the 120GB HD alone as well...

You can just use a Laptop 2.5" Hard Drive for the Xbox 360, sure you'll have to mod and buy some cables, but in the end it's much cheaper. If the 120GB Hard Drive will sell as $199, I might as well use a Laptop HD.

just open the enclosure of the current small hdd, a put a 120gb 2.5in sata hdd inside (preferably samsung). I wonder if the 360 checks the model or make of the hdd.

You'll have to format it first to one that the Xbox 360 recognizes. There was a whole guide on how to do this online...

Ok...you have to format a LapTop Hard Drive to Fat32.

Here:

I'm sure there's other ways.

Yeah, I know. I was thinking about doing this but there's not much of a point to do it right now, maybe when I get the HD-DVD Add On.

Yeah, I know. I was thinking about doing this but there's not much of a point to do it right now, maybe when I get the HD-DVD Add On.I'm only on a 720p set, but the image is more crisp with vga on my 32" Samsung. Could just be my TV tho.

Some HDTV's look different though on VGA so I'm not quite willing to spend $40 on a cable, and then if it doesn't look as good then I'll have to calibrate it...so maybe later.

My HDTV is the Samsung HLR-5078W. Some have had both good and bad experiences w/ VGA on this. So far it looks good using a PC through VGA, but not sure about Xbox 360.

In a recent update it was raised to 150MB. Also, game demos have 300-1000MB each. Then there are LOADS of movie trailers, game teasers...
The 20GB HDD is easily filled if you use the online services. Very sweet :)

I use the HDD on my 360 for game saves...thats about it. Im soon to use my ps3 hdd for more than game saves though :).

Also, my ps3 looks alot better on my 32" 720 LCD by Vizio (using HDMI no less muhaha) than my 360 does on my 51" Toshiba HDTV (which upconverts to 1080i as well).

I think my Xbox 360 looks great on my 50" Samsung HDTV. I set it as 1080i and my HDTV Upconverts it to 1080p! Looks amazing, but I might try out VGA sooner or later...
