Ok So I guess I want to just start a thread to talk about PCI-E X800 mods. I'm probably going to be devoting a lot of time to this and I figured if we all put our brains together on this one maybe we can figure something out.

I will be on frequently, you can contact me on AIM at Kniteman77 which I'm pretty much always on.

First off has anyone had any success modding a PCI-E X800 ?

I have 2 X800 Pro VIVO's by Sapphire, I have tried to mod one several times but to no avail.

Things I have tried thus far.
Flashing with regular flashrom.exe
Flashing with the modified flashrom16p.exe
Connecting both around and over the laser cut and repeating both the above flashes
Using multiple X800 XT BIOSes

Things I have NOT tried thus far.
Flashing with a modified 16 pipe X800 Pro Vivo Bios

If someone could direct me to a modified PCI-E 16 pipe BIOS it would be much appreciated.

Any ideas are welcome. As I said I will be devoting a lot of time to this, I'm looking and reading, i'll try to keep you all updated. Please contact me on AIM at Kniteman77 if you wish to converse about this topic.

Someone in another thread was onto something with comparing the PBC of a Regular X800 Pro and a X80 XT and seeing if we can learn anything from that.

Has anyone tried flashing the X800 the 'old' way that dosent preserve the R420 ROM settings ?

That could have something to do with it also.

He means with the Gigabyte bios/flashrom. It is the only thing I have not seen tried. The modified flashrom may not be working, because it was designed to work with the AGP cards. There may be other reasons as well.

For the love of God, someone try the Gigabyte flashrom!
