ordered it friday I must be thinking about vista so which vista do I need?

#1 bad name for the topic, you are talking about vista, so should have gone in software.
#2 Depends on what your going to do with it
#3 from your system specs i would go with premium, unless you want to created hd movies and other things like that

I would say Ultimate but hell that's expencive.:laugh:
Home Premium will also fit your needs i think.

I looked at the comparison and home basic does not have media center but premium and ultimate do. I want the one that can mess around with hdtv/hdcp (hdtv is going to be the new hdtv it has copyright protection :-(...).

so looking at that link premium might have hd capabilities? When I get a new hd I will get vista too. I want hd capabilites because I will be using my new monitor for watching movies in my room :)

NVM at he bottom of the page it says premium and ultimate have hdtv capabilites :P

If you can afford Ultimate, then get it, obviously if you can afford to get an 8800 gts, you should be able to afford Ultimate. If not, then go for the next best, Premium.
