I've been very interested in the difference in memory timings between cards and would like to know what any of you have experienced with it? I would think that increasing the CAS latency I would get a higher overclock, but my display gets corrupted when I put it on CAS 4. It's currently on 3. I've also seen strange behaviour when changing the latencies... I've decreased them heavily and got some better performance figures (same frequency) but the cursor would lag extremely in Windows when on top of things that showed the edit cursor ex. text boxes etc. :confused: Also memory refresh doesn't seem to do anything?? I can set it to 30 and 5 and it would remain identical.

Default/Tweaked timings:

tWL = 1.0
tCL = 3
tCMD = 0 clock
tSTB = equals tWrL + 1/2 clocks
tRcdRD = 4/3
tRcdWR = 2
tRP = 5/4
tRAS = 8
tRRD = 3/1
tR2W = CL + 3
tWR = 2/1
tW2R = 2/0
tW2Rsb = Use tWR Rule/Use tWR2 Rule
tR2R = 2
MemRR = 17
tRFC = 14/13
tRBS = CL + 3.5
tERST = CL - 0.5
tQSREQ = CL - 0.5
tDQM = WL - 1
tDQS = WL - 1

I want to know also if there's a specific configuration in which all timing must be in sync with each other to work or something similar that's hindering me from setting the CAS Latency to 4. I would've thought that memory wouldn't have a problem with working slower! ;)

Help would be greatly appreciated.

There are no universal memory timings for a 9550, and it is most likely to be your card that is stopping you from changing the CAS Latency as you probably already have quite aggresive memory timings. You get more performance gains from just keeping your GPU cool than changing the timings. You just have to experiment to find the optimum without any problems. Small increases are safest. Changing most settings just give me artifacts, so i don't bother.
