View Full Version : opinions on vga ramsinks use em or trash em?

im talking about those tiny little stick ons that come with some vga coolers.

for a non water cooled system using a large heatsink with fan attatched like the zalman shown here:

do they really do anything or not? i heard because of the way the card is enclosed by the large heatsink they can actually interfere with getting airflow from the fan accross the card and you get dead spots that get airflow blocked by them, so i've heard a few comments that you will actually get better airflow and better cooling without them on. what say you fellow forum members?


ps - if you need to rma the card does having stick on ramsinks void warranties?
in other words do you have to remove them and clean up the evidence they were there?

Just clean it good. And maybe you should save em as they may come in handy for other components, especially if youre an overclocker! :toast:

Placing ramsinks on the power mosfets of a graphics card will improve overall cooling.
