A customer just told me she wants to run oblivion on her computer.
It has a decent mainboard with a 754 Semp 3400+, and 1 gig of DDR400, currently a 9200se 128mb agp...
I KNOW she will need a video card to even think about it, she wont be crazy about how perfect it looks or anything. But what should I be looking at getting her for video to at least play the game at lower settings until she can afford a new system?
I was thinking a x1600-x1650, 6800-7600... Needs to be agp for now..

Get a 7600GT/GS AGP, anything more and the cpu bottleneck will be ridiculous. BUt for that processor you'll need a 7600 to run it comfortably.
The 7600 is better than the x16X0 priced equivalents in Oblivion
I think a sempron 3400+ can be compared with atleast an Athlon 3000+, right? D:
I could run OBlivion more then fine with a 754 3000+ Athlon CPU. The graficcard was a X1800XT, and I played with higher rsolution and a bit lower details. Apparently higher resolution makes the GPU work more and the CPU won't be too much of a bottleneck, so perhaps that is why i could run it good on that CPU?

Very possible.
I am talking more with her now, and now it looks like a fully new system, because she wants to play Crysis and a few other hot new new games also... So thinking about a full upgrade here now..
Radeon 9800 and Sck-754 Sempron 3000+ ran Oblivion on low/medium-ish settings. I'm up to a Sempron 64 3400+ and X850 Pro 16P. Haven't tried Oblivion, but I'm sure it'll run with decent settings. She's not going to be churning out pixels like a mad fiend, but it'll run.
