Well, I have been an Nvidia fan for as long as I can remember, but I ended up getting a 9600 XT yesterday. I know what some of you are probably wondering, "Why did he get such an old card as an upgrade?" Well, my answer is that I needed an upgrade to my old AGP system for now, and didn't want to spend a ton of money, and before the upgrade, I was using an integrated GeForce4 MX with 64MB shared memory.. It's only for a little while, as I plan on building a new pc over the summer with either an 8600 Ultra or x2600/x2650, depending on alot of factors. This was a nice upgrade for me, and here are some of the stats for my most played game, UT04, with max settings @ 1024 x 1280 on the same map for both tests, using the same benchmark stats.
GeForce4 MX 64MB shared:
low:8 (in combat)
average in combat: 8-10
average:25 (running)
high:32 (facing the ground and sky while running)
Radeon 9600 XT:
low: 25 (in combat)
average in combat: 35
average: 38 (running)
high: 52 (facing the ground and sky while running)
Another plus to my new card is that I can now run 3DMARK 05 and 06, My old card couldn't even run 05.. I also doubled my 01' score over the 5500 FX I bought a while back that I returned because of minimal performance increases, and that card was $50, while this one was $60. :D I am very pleased with this new card/purchase. :rockout:
