Hi,
Well after a couple of weeks of trying to decide what's best for me I have decided to sell most of my kit and do an upgrade (again!), I am going to get the following:

Brisabane 4000
2Gb GSkill DDR2 800 4-4-4-12
8800GTS
Unknown Am2 Mobo

I am looking for a non sli/Xfire motherboard thats fairly inexspensive.....say upto mid range.....£60 or $110 max that is a decent overclocker, I would be looking specifically for above 1.45V on the Vcore, above 2.1V on the Vdimm and a board that can hit a FSB of 300+.....is there such a thing or am I dreaming? I do not need anymore than 1 x IDE, a couple of SATA/2, Lan and 2 PCI slots, usual stuff, nothing flash, not too bothered about chipset if it can meet these criteria. I would then get the wife to buy me Vista Home Premium for my Birthday in June!

I considered going 1950XT crossfire as I have just got one as a warranty replacement for my old 1800XT but I think going single with the GTS is probably the best option and I can flea bay both the graphics cards then and sell the 1950XT which is an extreme silent 650/900 stock as "New".

What you guys think? Any thoughts/Mobo suggestions would be appreciated.

For AM2 my adive is MSI K9N SLI Platinum. One 8800gts is better than crossfire, because in crossfire the second card is only for AA and AF

glad you're going AM2 :)
for the mobo i would suggest mine or the crosshair, but since you're on a budget i suggest this:

or this

up to you, don't forget good ram :)

Check out the DFI or MSI mb. They are great if you're going to OC. If not, go Asus or Gigabyte.

Thanks, that Biostar is cheap and looks good value, googled some reviews and it looks a mean overclocker as well.....bonus!

Think I might keep the 7900GTO at the moment and invest in even better RAM, although the GSkill is good and reports show 1000Mhz easily acheived with 5-5-5-15. I can then sell the GTO and get a 8800GTS or the new R600 in June for my Birthday.

Was actually considering the new E4300 (that sent me all cold!) it has a higher multiplier than the E6300/6400 but a FSB of 800 but thats good because you can get DDR667 ram at stocked ultra tight timings and run the beast at 700Mhz on something like 4-4-4-8!!!

I am flea baying my kit today and am off to Portugal for a week tommorrow, when I get back I will have made up my mind and will start buying, thanks for all your help :D

Lol 20C will do me fine! 25C would be nicer tho. What speed memory do you suggest for the AM2 Brisbane....DDR667 or 800, am looking at taking her from a stock 2.1Gig on a 10.5 multi to possibly 3.1Gig.

Just make sure to update the bios, first edition is buggy. After the update, will run like a champ. :toast:

I have this G.Skill kit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231114

I can hit 935MHz 4-4-3-5 2T with just 2.15V going to them. I've hit 1080MHz 5-5-5-15 with the same voltage. There have been reports of them doing over 1000MHz with 4-4-3-5 timings with 2.3V.
