Hi... My name is Carlos, I come from Argentina. I have read all forums searching the way to overclock my video card.
I have an old Asus Ati Radeon 9200SE 128 Mb. I have overclocked the card from 200/166 (stock) to 280/220 adding a fan and heatsinks (VANTEC ICEBERQ 4). The card has changed a lot, but i was wondering if there is a way ( by software or hardware modding) to change the 64 bits bus to 128 bits. Maybe flasing the card with other compatible Bios?
Will a volt modding help me to get more Mhz?
Well, I hope not to bother anyone
And first of all, thanks a lot!!!
PD. Sorry about my English... jejeje

i dont think its possible to change the bus from 64bit to 128bit..

It's not, otherwise I'd have done it a long time ago. Thats the actual limitation of the hardware, software can't change it.

True story! The 128-bit interface has to be supported by hardware and implemented to use it, you either have it or ya don't, no changing it! That would be cool though! If that was a possibility I'd try to mod my x1950 to a 512bit bus (LOL). If video card makers could even allow that option (pretty sure that's physically impossible), we would have a tough time getting to it, because that'd cause some serious price war and favorability issues beyond what we have with just unlocking pipes (800gto's 850pro's 9500's), etc.

Well first off, you would have to design your own GPU that can utilize a bus of that nature, or modify the stock one somehow. Secondly, you would have to design a PCB that has a 128bit memory bus. Thirdly, you would have to use the correct memory on the 128bit bus.
I doubt the stock 9200se core would be able to "recognize" a 128bit bus, someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
The more bits a bus has, pretty much equates to how many tracers(lines) there are on a PCB.
Simple in theory, but hard for normal people to actually do.
I wish I had the connections/education to build a video card of my own.
EDIT: What would be cool, is if GPU's finally migrated to sockets, and you could buy "video card motherboards" if you must, and upgrade ram and all that, you could change the board and memory just like a motherboard, to 128bit, 256bit, or even 512bit, etc.
One day.... One day....

nope, the OC you have already is as far as you will get with that card. Buy a faster one if you need faster.

Thanks to everyone... Maybe I could use Rabit to reduce memory timings? Will Voltmodding help me or I am just at the edge of this crapy card???
Thanks to everyone...
And one more time.. sorry about my english

Thanks man... Just another question.
The X1950 you have is really a great card? Because I have read lot of information and forrums about your card. What is your opinion... Who do you think have the best card... Sapphire, Msi, PowerColor, HIS, Evga, I donīt know
And just to set it clear, here, in Argentina the Sapphire Ati x1950 256bits and 256 Mb PCI-Express cost at least u$s 290.. And the exchange here is U$s1 is $3.14 Pesos Argentinos...
One more time... Sorry about my english

They are all kind of the same, the Sapphire's sometimes have cheap memory! Some overclock better than others. Check these links;

Hi.. just another question... Which do you think is better? Artic Silver 5 or this... Liquid PRO...

I love my x1950...it's around 2x faster (sometimes a little less than 2x, some times a lot more than 2x) than my x850xt pe...which that card is miles ahead of a 9200se. Mine is a Powercolor, I purchased it cause it came with the X2 cooler on it, and got good ratings for stability. Doesn't seem to OC well though...seems if you want a good OC x1950 go with Sapphire or HIS...but I've seen people pull off good OC's on a Powercolor, but they have XP...I have Vista, and I have yet to see anyone have much luck OC-ing a 1950 in vista as compared to XP. I'd definately recommend the card I have though, and the minor OC I have thus far gave me an extra 7000 points in Aquamark (so maybe a few extra frames in games at most...). I purchased my card for US $200, but of course I live in the states and found a deal on Newegg. Good luck on your situation, lemme know if I can be of any more help to ya!

Thanks...
I'm not familiar with Liquid Pro...it sounds good, but AS5 has been tried and true for years. So until I read some reviews and know someone who has applied it and noticed a difference between an AS5 application that runs cooler I'd stick with AS5. But I'm kind of curious how Liquid pro works, I just read on their web site that the base of the cooler that makes contact to the CPU must be Copper or Silver...it will not work with Aluminum and in fact will eventually draw in moisture and cause corrosion. So if I wanted to use it and still used my old Zalman 7700AL-Cu I'd be screwed...I could use it on my AC Freezer Pro 7, but my AS5 application works just fine.
If ya get a tube and use it, let us know how well it works..and if you have AS5...post some comparisons! That L. Pro stuff could be really good considering it's 100% metal based particles in liquid form...

I would have thought although you get a high heat transfer rating, it will also be highly electrically conductive which is not what you want. I don't think its worth it.

use AS5, i've never even heard of that stuff. Being liquid and not a paste, it would be harder to spread as well.

Well AS5 is conductive also...and AS5 is what close to 99% metal? So this stuff can't really be all that much more conductive...but I agree with Mussels on it being a liquid and not a paste. I guess we'll see if it makes the cut in the short future as I'm sure it's going to catch a buzz for trying to compete with AS5.

9200SE is pathetic for overclocking even if it got volt modded.
Just get a new GPU, you spent more money on cooling than the card.
