I have a Q-PACK MicroATX built around a Gigabyte AMD 754pin with 2gig Corsair DDR. I want to keep the 2 gig DDR (and use the extra 1 gig DDR I have sitting around), so I bought a DFI Infinity RS482. Since AMD lowered prices, I was hoping to grab a 4800 X2 for less than $250, but there are zero 939 X2 desktop processors available:cry: , at least no available for less than $400. The question I have is what the difference is between the Athlon 64 desktop and the Opterons:confused: .

Several Opterons are available at a decent price, and it appears they are extremely overclockable (compared to AMD desktop processors). I am inclined to buy an Opteron and OC it to attain the performance similar to the desktop models. Any ideas?:twitch:

Go with the opty, they OC about the same, and sometimes better...and they run a tad cooler.

Yes, go with the opteron mate. They're quite good and OC about the same.
