Let me start by saying this is an email you may have received already. Be an American and help out. There’s no easier task than to not fill up on May 15.

DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!!

In April of 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15, 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station and pump gas in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies' pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) resend this to your entire contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th".

You should try our petrol prices here in the u.k, its currently @ £0.94 that equates to nearly 2 dollars a LITRE @ todays currency exchange rate!

Even if people dont buy their petrol on the 15th they will more than likely get it on the 14th or the 16th and the government will still get the tax whatever!

Im all into big cars, but petrol isnt going to last forever and something has to give somewhere along the line until hydrogen/next gen cars are cost effective and safe! :)

yeah it worked well in 97. Sad thing, Im going to Florida with the wife for our anniversary. Gonna kind of be hard not to get gas, and we are taking the more fuel efficient 05 Endeavor as opposed to the hulking brute, 06 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab (Magnum V8). As for gas, I drive 170 miles a day for work (the wife drives 30 the otherway), and no matter if I DONT gas up on that particular day, I still have to go to work.

I bought a motorcycle to save gas, but I'm sorry I'm not riding in the rain.
There is no public transit that could even come close.

And to me its not even the $$ of gas, its the fact that when it goes up, these pirates at the station raise their price BEFORE THEY EVEN REFILL. So they paid ~$2.50 for the gas in the ground, and because everyone else is gouging so they can get an extra PROFIT. Its BULL.

Boycott MOBIL/EXXON and keep these guys HONEST.

My parents home town, little hometown gas station goes outta buisness by a 24hr Mobil ~1 mile away.
Tiny little hardware store with ONE pump that sat around for years broken.
Someone buys the little hardware store last year, the new owners fixed the pump. They are now BUSIER than Mobil because everyone knows they are HONEST. The keep their prices EQUIVALENT TO WHAT THEY PAID.

I've seen stations raise their prices TWICE IN ONE DAY. I mean WTF they haven't re-filled the big tanks underground.

So again I say...BOYCOTT MOBIL/EXON, it just might work...

Edit: About me not being able to get gas. I asked the guy at the Mobil station what the deal with this was. Apparently, you don't need to be 18 to get gas in MA, you just need a valid drivers license. Works for me :).

3 Billion in one day is a big time notice to Big Oil..and maybe wazz..people can do what you suggest on that day to conserve that day's worth of gasonline? That would be what is considered more "progressive" thinking. I think it's a good idea as it doesn't take long to get there attention, and is pretty much the most affective action we can take legally. Sure one day might not sound like much...but that one day's affect would hit pretty hard and could cause some serious issues in the fast paced income Big Oil is used to! They'd have to send their coin counters home! LoL!
