Runs great. I'm running it at 1920*1080......and I run it faster than 8800gtxs :D I can't really say much due to NDA, but I've compared FPS to GTX owners and they're jealous!

Sweet. I understand about the NDA, but thats what I am talking about.

yo.. gotta qestion.. how come the 8800gtx is faster ingame.. when 2900xt is better 3dmark. 2900xt has 8.0 size core and 8800gtx got 9.0.... what does 2900xt card uses the extra power usages for????????

if you ask me.. maby nvidia has found a shourter way for the wires on the card but in a tighter way.. so the bandwith is a bit lower....

or is it that the r600 core is higher clocked.. then again does not seem to enhanze gaming performance.. have someone tested if you downclock the 2900xt core to 8800gxt level.. does it draw the same power then??

I love when people think that all cards are made by the same engineers

Stinzza - if you are worried about power consumption, then the top end gfx cards are NOT where you should be looking.

Well with the introduction of the 3800 series the 2900 may reach EOL (end of line).

probably, but at least it had a longer run than the x1800's lol

is there any software for adjusting the voltage on the 2900

There is ATI Tool but I haven't noticed much of a difference tweaking voltage then upping GPU/Mem vs upping the GPU/MEM only.

I've been trying to find other ways to oc my new dual 2900 crossifre setup. Is there any other way besides using the CCC to overclock both cards? ATI too doesn't seem to work very well (unless i'm doing something wrong).

I've been trying to use ATI tool to set the fan speed on both cards but it seems when i switch cards in the overclocking drop down menu, the fan speeds revert back to the stock maximum (38%)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Google Riva Tuner, and go to there site and download it.

It overclocks the GPU and you can set the Fan speed to whatever you like and then save the settings so that when you reboot you don't have to set them again.:)

Also it makes a great monertering tool.

what are you using to cool that?!

I've had my HIS 2900gt for about 3 weeks now.

It's excellent, a tad noisy when fan is set over 50% :/

I've managed to OC it to 833/1035 :)

IMO the HIS version is the best version for this series. As long as you keep both the GPU and voltage regulators cool you should do fine. Enjoy! :D

An infinit amount of Liquid Nitrogen along with a customized and heavily modified Water Pump lol.

Well with room temps at 24oC, the gpu doesn't go beyond 72oC (mostly below 69oC)

However, we've had hot weather and the room temp has hit 26-28oC. The gpu temp rose to 74-75oC.

Does anyone else still have a 2900 in their rig?

Good to hear. Thought everyone has migrated to newer tech and I was the sole survivor of the HD2900 :D

The AC cooler is available to buy from LambdaTek (UK) (http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=gbase2.5&prodID=B127085).

ShinyHardware (UK) (http://www.shinyhardware.co.uk/products/product.asp/pid=19821&l=) also have it in stock and seem to offer international delivery.

There are a couple of other UK sellers but they are dearer.

I'm in the US :).. Thanks for link works out about $8 dearer though :(.

I have not updated for a few reason. Money being one, 2 being i don't think the new cards are all that, 3 kinda waiting for better idle watt usage. 4 being it be pointless till arma 2 is out maybe then it be worth it.

errr, what do those snippets have to do with the 2900?

I still have two. One will be going for sale soon to pad the 4870x2 fund.

hehe, All though i got mine down too 407 in 2D @ 0.9v and 820 in 3D @ 1.20 max GPU temp 59c with a room temp of 26c.

In fact the ram GPU PCB is not whats making all the heat it's the regs if only they could be cooled better.

Yeah Cooler runs warm so it surly taking the heat away from the card for sure. The default fans on it are kinda crap though. Better fans would be nice :P..

I had a Zalman fan on it used some valcro to stick it there for a bit to test it took a extra 5-8c of the temp. Keep the max temps lower thats for sure. Just those regs man they get hot and yeah i know they can get real dam hot without issue's but like to remove the heat from there all the same.

This one

I'm after some low profile ram heatsinks as i have some idea's to try hehe. it's just getting the cash lol.

Hey gang,

Ok first, I'm not a guru of any sort...more a power user, so be gentle! lol

Here's the scenario: Yesterday, I moved my office from one room to another in the house. I have a Dell machine with WinXP and the HD2900XT.

The box has been working for nearly a year without problem. This morning however, I turned it on and got only this:

Black screen with this message: 113-B00602-103 R600 GDDR3_8Mx32 512bit

What would cause this?

Things I've tried:

Reseated the card
Change cables
Plugged in DVI, VGA and various combinations, etc

Help? (I've already contacted ATI - 3 techs...2 said it was not vid card...the 3rd said I needed to contact the manu of the card.)

any chance you can try and put it in another machine? or vice versa, do you have another card you can test in your machine?

NTerrio

My sister's PC may be my option for that...but is there an issue with drivers? Will I need to uninstall anything she has on her machine?

Or can I just plug it in to see if I can get past the black screen?

I have 2 NVidia 8800s - I tried putting one in and got a black screen and a cursor. Not sure what that means. Is it drivers? Or should the machine at least get Windows to load before I get the black screen?

Oh, and any idea why the Original Message happened? Did I not pray to the right Computer God or something? All I did was move the machine from one room to the other...and it was a smooth move...no bumps, etc.
