I'm looking to buy the gigabyte 8800gts 320mb but i was wondering what kind of power supply I'm looking at i googled and i found that you that the minimum recommended power supply needs to have 26a on the +12v rails.
As some of you may know these power supplies are very hard to find and are also very expensive (well they are in new zealand anyway!).
finally my question is do you have to have 26a or will 20a do the job
here's the power supply I'm looking at for the moment
TK-965TX-DF V2.0 650W dual fan

Will this power supply be sufficient
any posts or comments would be greatly appreciated

20a should do the job, it does for me anyway. Plus 650W is overkill.

Does your +12v rail stay reasonably stable under load?

that psu hasnt got a pci-e connector, and only a 20pin motherboard header, and only sata through an adapter, i'd look for a newer design
i run an 8800, and was using a 550w with 2x 18a rails and it was fine, ive now changed to a (corsair) 520w and it only draws 380w from the mains (tested with a voltmeter)

should be ok, my old 550w had less amps on the 12volt, and i had a look at some raidmax psu reviews and they were built by topower (a good make)

500W PSU should do. Make sure the amperage is continuous however.

Hey Koni Korken
I wouldnt get one of those raidmax psu's mate, I have heard some bad reports from them and they are a little cheap to be any good. A $100 600watt psu is not going to be that good man, at least get this one : http://www.tiscowaikato.co.nz/catalogue/product_info.php?cPath=27_46&products_id=1233
If you are going to run a 8800...
Trust me you will just run into problems later on..

My previous psu was 500w/18a 12v rail, when I put the GTS in I got a scream from either the gpu or the psu, so I disconnected a hdd and left the very minimum in which got rid of the scream until I got what I have now! Which was only £25 off ebay and it works a treat, with 24 mobo connector and x2 sata connections! Everest reads voltages just fine :)
So if you have the very minimum of devices connected to your psu you should beable to get away with 20a like dan
