Im running an AMD sempron 2400+ (at 1.8ghz)
512 ddr400 ram
80gb seagate hdd
6600gt @ 572//1100
a NF7 Motherboard
and a simple 350watt psu

on source (1024x768 with everything on as high as it can be, excluding aa as it can only go for as nvidia cards dont support 6) i get around 50fps...where as my mates who have 6600gt's normally get up 100+.....any reason to why this might be..would their doubel frame rate be due to the 64 bit cpu's that they run??

Most definitely mate. No offence but Sempron CPUs are really meant to be budget CPUs and not for gaming. Especially with Source as these games are very CPU dependant. Your 6600GT is bottlenecked by your CPU. Since you have a NF7 motherboard, you would do better to get a high-end Socket A CPU. If you're not looking to overclock then get the 3200+ or a 2400+ mobile if ur looking to overclock.

Athlon 64 setups have had a huge price drop especially the 754 socket as they are slowly being phased out. So this can be another option for you too..

yeah im saving for a 64bit as we speak...i jsut wasnt sure if it was my cpu or something else..thanks for that one mate!
