got a 36gb sata wd raptor 8mb cache today and im thouroughly dissapointed with the performance its showing in hdtach, ive attached an image below of the hdtach results so you can see for yourself.

info: im using it as my main os drive, it was formated today and a clean install of vista ultimate loaded, its on my sata0 port and sata is running in ide mode (as opposed to achi or raid) and im thinking about sending it right back, is it just me or are those readings pure shit ?

Pure shit me thinks. Should be at, or at least around the SATA 150 speed mark.
Although, it could be anomalous data. Try the test once more just to check, and see if someone else has a comparison.
Does seem too low for a Raptor though.

Average read speed for the 74G Raptor is about 65MB/s according to HDTachs reports.
My Raid0 config here at work is getting about 85MB/s and bursting at about 200MB/s

I would say that seems pretty slow for a Raptor.
