Ok i was playing a game and all the sudden my puter shut off but the lights were on and it was smoking like a frieght train from the PSU. The caps blew apart. but it was cool......lol and I hope it didnt take anything else with it.....
Ok my problem is now I need a new PSU and have no clue as to which ones I should look at for dependability as well as cost. My budget will be between $50-$80. I prefer Newegg and was wondering which one would be best for future upgrade to the HD series.

I know this PSU isnt in your price range , but I will say it any way. Stay away from OCZ ProXStream 1000 watter it is total garbage !!! they die with in a month if they even work at all!

Hey bro.
Take a look at this thread http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=30822
Under the PSU section it tells you all about it.
And you can even learn the basics about them.
If you need anymore help, please post in that thread.
Hope it helps.

If you just wanna go by these 3, which you could prob. do better for $100, the second one is the best. FSP is a great company.
Unfort. the Mushkins werent that great compared to other quality brands.
If you want a great PSU that will last with upgrades take a look at the Corsair HX520W (it sells for about $86 AR on ZipZoomfly.com or Newegg).
Also, take a look at the thread I linked.
Very useful.

The reason for that is bc the OCZ GameXStream has a massive amount of ripple.
This causes the PSU to die quicker as well as ur components.
It also affects the ability to OC.
Take a look at my thread. It mentions all of that and more :)

I have this PSU myself, it has EVERY power cable needed except that new 8-pin pci-e, it's dual rail, quiet, and modular

Same here, I love the Antec 500W. Very well built PS. Kinda expensive though, I have seen them for $40 before.
If it falls into his price range, which it does, it's all good.
