Hi Guys,
I need help on this issue. I recently replaced my existing 2.1 logitech setup with a high quality speaker/reciever combo - running off the soundcard. So far so good.
To really enjoy high quality sound I ripped all my CDs into FLAC - which run without problem off a SQUEEZEBOX wirelessly using my comp as a music server. Excelent SQ.
In my study with the new setup, I was using VLC to play the FLACs. They run OK - with occasional stutters. The baseline processor utilisation is 4%. But as soon as I do stuff on my computer, even innocous things like surf the web or even just scroll thru a webpage - the music stutters and skips - and the performance takes a dip with 90-100% CPU utilisation bursts while I am scrolling/or doing any more intensive things.
I am using IE 7 and VLC. Is this inherent to IE 7 or VLC?
When I use winamp - the CPU bursts still occur but only reach 50-60%... and no music stutters, even when playing FLAC, same files.
Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions would highly appreciated.

I guess I could another web browser.... and see what happens.
What I really want to know is - Is this problem inherent to FLACs playback/ VLC performance/ IE 7 problems or just something wrong with my specific software mileu. Can some else replicate on their computer especially if they have a single core processor?

Nevermind guys... I found out the culprit - IE7!!! The problem doesnt occur with Firefox... at all! Plus looks like VLC isnt the best written piece of software.

Just curious if anyone else had this problem?
