i was wondering if its possible to build a better cooling system with extra parts and stuff around the house. i have alot of extra parts and i wanted to try some make shift cooling things, any suggestions

Umm, maybe for small things that don't really need cooling, but I wouldn't go making something for your CPU unless you have a CNC machine or something.
Well, if he happens to have a CNC machine lying around in his house I bet he'll be able to make one... ;) It all depends on what you have lying around? I'm sure you can make a copper block if you really want to... You just need alotta time and alotta guts to put only that on your CPU! :D Then, leaking is another problem. But you don't really need CNC to make a working copper block. And then I don't think you have peltier components lying around so... Then there's always that old fridge lying around eh? Bet you were thinkin' about that. I wouldn't recommend it. Too much hassle to avoid condensation. So I think you can be creative and check around the web if they have any other projects as yours. It seems to me like a challenge! :D Good luck.

Maybe if you've got a Copper pipe and plate, some liquid nitrogen, and a phase-change cooler (http://www20.tomshardware.com/cpu/20031230/index.html) just lying around you could make something nice.
Hehe, already seen that one... But who wants to pour liquid nitrogen into a tube every few minutes just to keep his CPU cool? Nope, can't think that'll work. I'm very interested in the fact that you can make a tank full of non-electrically conductive thermal liquid and keep your pc totally submerged in it! That would be great if you could decrease the temp of that liquid to something like -20C or so... Instant extreme cooler!! But WAAAAAAAYYYY too expensive for mortals. ;)

You're weird, I don't know who DOESN'T use the ol' liquid nitrogen trick these days!
Hehe. LOL. That explains why my CPU runs 200C warmer than you guys'!

hm u can somethin u have to have:
a cooper block
something to work on cooper (dremel multitool ect)
then a fan and some time then u will be avle to make a proper cooper block for your cpu or gpu
but for the thin holds on mainboard use the holes in the mainboard dont goes for (scratches?) "klammern"
then u can build something like the zalmann cooler

Though its terrible appearance this baby cooled my friends 9800se rams beyond expectations :D
Woah, what's all strapped on there?!? I can make out a fan or two but what type of sink to you use? Or is it just aluminium plate? Looks terrible yes, but very unique! ;)

It's 2 aluminium plates :D
I know it looks like shite but the tools we used for this was the following:
One sock.
One shitty saw.
One drawer (full of socks.)
Hence the quality 8)
At least it cooled like hell! :D
Hehe. Well, if it works then it's fine! :D I've tried everything from an old athlon 900 fan and sink to homemade ramsinks out of a pentium1 heatsink... But none prove to be very efficient. No better overclocking and I don't know what's the temps so I can't really tell... :p

Hah..that looks so ghetto, man. What happened to throwing some money at Xoxide and getting some fans? :D

Josef> That might because it IS ghetto 8)
And what on earth is xoxide? And fans? It already has 2 or 3 fans ;)
2 from a celeron and p4 cpu, and one från a p2 ;D
xoxide is an online mod store :D

I think he was kidding when he asked what Xoxide is.
Hehe. Yeah, you never know... Since he's into the ghetto, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't know what xoxide is? ;)

You know, I think I still have the stock cooler for my AMD 64 sitting around. :D *Cough cough VIDEO CARD cough cough*
