any of you guys tried playin' WoW over a modem? Blizzard says it is playable, but i wanna know if that's really true... i just can't imagine it, playing online games over my 56kbit is really a pain.
is out a demo of any sort? i just wanted to test it before i buy a cat in a bag.. :o/

Doubt it would work that well. And it may be very hard to download patches.

I have played it over dialup before - it's a little slower to load the NPC locations and related items when you first log on, but it's really not much slower after that.

it should be very playable, but it will be considerably slower in area where many things are happening (towns)

teoretically or practically? :D 'cause not even quake3 is running ok on my sys, i think this is because my connection schema is following: 20 meters of regular (not anything special) coax cable, homemade can antenna, 300 meters of air, another can antenna, 2 meters of coax, friends pc and THEN modem.. it's a little laggy, i know :D

I would never suggest playing any Mmorpg with dial up. I meen come on think about it its a huge would with 100's of players and new things happenin everyminute 56k wont cut it.

The only place WoW hangs is in entering cities such as Ironforge, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, etc. It's because most of the world data is cached on your PC, it's just the NPC and player data that is downloaded to the PC. If you're out in the open, away from a major city, it's very playable, even on dialup. In fact, it's more playable on dialup than Star Wars Galaxies.

Most new games on dialup, are playable but slow some times two slow so. I think that u should go with a faster connectionbut. If that is all u can aford then we cant help u with that.
