I have just got some new ram 2x1gn Muskin,as i posted in the Mushkin support thread and recieved all of rhe timings etc....
The question i have is when i lower the voltage(DRAM voltage comtrol, i hope this is the right one) and change the timings, how do i power down in the BIOS so i can change the ram over?

:wtf: You want to change your current ram in your specs to the Muskin??

You need to turn off your comp and take the power cord out of the wall socket then wait like 30 secs so all the power is out of the mobo then change your ram.

And the Muskin is DDR right just making sure ;)

Oops, forgot to say that the mushkin is DDR.

I was just thinking that if i put the mushkin in....then boot up.
The Geil Ram is running at 3.2 and the mushkin (i've been told) will only run at 2.7.

So, in theory....would it boot the Ram up at 3.2?!?!

Okay put your setting that you want you Mushkin ram in the bios then save and exit or what ever you use to change the setting

cuz it should restart and get back in the bios and just press the power button and it should turn off then take the power cord out of the wall socket then wait like 30 secs so all the power is out of the mobo then change your ram.

then plug it back in then turn it on

The 1st setting shown is still the original, as i wasn't told to change this.

I have already changed the voltage to 2.7!

On POST i am given a messege that reads:
"Warning! Now system is in safemode please resetting CPU frequency in the CMOS setup"

Can you see anything wrong?

Please help!!! :( :banghead:

can you just put it on auto on everything ?

Just tried that to no-avail:( Another thing i have noticed is that in CMOS reloaded it has 4 banks see pic:

Is this the problem? i am trying to narrow it down:)

Wait, so the motherboard is setting the DDR voltage that high?

From what im reading you just changed the memory settings and are booting new stix with an OC still loaded to the cpu? If this is the fact ,the problem is you are trying to boot your memory OC'd also!

There is an optimize defaults button in bios that should be done first to let your memory get a start then try to see what it does!

Wait, so the motherboard is setting the DDR voltage that high?
It was set at 3.2v for the o/c on the Geil, i had to lower it for the Mushkin.

So the Mushkin Rep gave me the o/c timings??

So setting optimised defaults would that also end the o/c on the cpu?

I honestly think that if you're tryin to load new memory for it's initial boot with an OC applied you're askin for issues. You need to turn the OC off ,either manually turning all settings back to stock , or optimize defaults will do it for you. The reason I say this , you dont even know they boot at stock do you? They should be tested @ stock speeds for errors B4 you just OC them and hope!

DFI is a tricky , ficle ,great when it works mobo...you just got to realize ,you have to play by DFI and Oscar Wu's rules.....they suck sometimes but honestly , it works!

to answer more directly yes Optimized Defaults will take all OC'ing and wipe it back to stock 200MHz and multiplyer!

Thanks guys.............
I only wanted to have 2gb ram instead of 1gb:(, and as i can see it's not that easy.
So i have gone back to the Geil and wait for the opty170 before i reset and then i will ram like mad:D

have you not just cleared the CMOS? Shouldn't be that hard to swap out mem sticks... just save the settings for the Geil and shutdown and clear CMOS jumper.. swap sticks and reboot, go into CMOS and change the settings from default to the ones given to you..
