Hello found this nice site last night. Exactly what I was looking for :)

Have a couple questions please.

First off I have a amd 3500, 6800gt(BFG),512 ram, Audigy 2 gamer.
My motherboard is MSI k8n Neo 2 Platinum.
I use to have two sticks of 512 Crucial Ballastix pc 4000 and am down to a single stick cause one went dead.

I am getting rid of the one stick of 512 I have left to put it another computer and would like to know what ram you recommend for my mentioned MB. I would like two Sticks of one GIG this time, and don't want to use Crucial anymore. Good price is always welcome.

Also with the above specs I would like some upgrade advice. I know 939 mb are old now and pci express are all the rage, but I dont want to change mb with this box. Advice on a cpu upgrade and video card would be great. Box still plays everything on medium at pretty good fps, but I would like to see that it does for another couple years.

Thanks!

Up your processor to FX55 and Gfx to future 2600XT. For your ram just find value rams.

Check Mobo manual or web site for recomended memory. Also if you don't see the brand you want you could probably get the brand you want by matching the specs of like memory on list, just watch the Vdimm necessary to run it on your mobo.

Why don't you just RMA the dead stick!?! They have a limited lifetime warranty, you know...

Any why don't want you want Crucial this time? Thats like saying "Well, I'm tired of this BMW, I think I'll try out this Mazda Protege economy car..." :twitch:

It's not just an opinion, Crucial/Micron makes some of the best OEM/Value/Performance/Enthusiast memory on the market. Many companies have their high performance line thats equal to the Ballistix and Ballistix Tracer series but you'd be hard pressed to do any better...

I agree the Crucial memory is good memory and they do offer the lifetime warranty. If nothing else, DDR is expensive now but you might find some corsair or gskill for less than $150. Checkout newegg.com for more details.

K, as far as the 55fx recommendation I am really confused. I found it here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103526R for 180 or so and I am seeing other price search engines showing me prices from 600-over a grand for that chip. Whats going on? 2600XT--- Will this work on 939 mbs? I have not seen a site that told me it would.

As far as ram how does this look http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227210&ATT=20-227-210&CMP=OTC-d3alt1me

I want two gigs of ram instead of only 1.
