CPU Use

Hello,

I just changed my old config (p4 2.53) for a new brand AMD 3800+ (with a NF3 ultra chipset) and I used ATItool to overclock my ati radeon 9700 pro.

With release 0.23, when I launch it (winxp sp2), cpu usage goes to 100 % all the time, so i can't use it property. I had no problem with my former config and win xp sp1.

Does anyone have a clue for me ?

are you sure your directx and display drivers is properly installed?

also grab latest 0.24 test build

DirectX9c properly installed (i suppose so)

Maybe it's an issue with new catalyst 5.5 (i installed only driver not control panel)?

you had both systool and atitool installed at the same time?

I suppose no because i don't know what is systool.

In fact, i supposed it was an issue with my 9700 pro, but I just tried with a X800 XT and i had same results (100% cpu usage).

i also has while scanning and showing 3d mode 100 percent but not in atitool normal

You're right, CPU goes 100% when 3D view is on.

But I suppose it's impossible to find max settings without 3d view ? :(

cpu usage should go to 100% (or 50% when using HT) while the cube is spinning, but the system should be as responsive as normal

when scanning/find max, cpu usage WILL go to 100% and WILL lag your system if you have only one cpu. this is completely normal

well ok .. the sum of load on both cpus is around 100% with ht . 66% 33% on my system here

In my system (AMD 3800+,powercolor X800xt, winxp sp2), when cube is spinning, system is lagging and cube have difficulties to spin properly. When i use "find max" setting, cube is doing more "spinning jumps" (lagging more and more).

I didn't have this problems with my former config (intel 2.53,ati 9700 pro, winxp sp1) .

Ok, w1zzard you already said it's normal, but i had same problems of 100% cpu usage with catalyst 5.4 (system goes to 100% when driver is loaded). Problems can't be similar ?

I´ve this lagging too, but only if "Samurize" is running. If you have runnig Samurize too, then try to disable it for scanning.

I've got no more lagging problem (but 100% cpu usage) when i disable epox motherboard monitoring software (so equivalent to samurize problem).
