Ok Iv been able to establish my PSU can run a HD2900. I have a PCI slot open next to my PCI-X slot so I "should" have enough room. However I notice some capacitors that may be in the way of a two slot card.
Is there a way to find out if a certain video card will fit on a particular mobo? Id hate to buy this thing and not be able to use it. If anyone knows off hand my mobo specs are as follows:

Limited (if any) BIOS options, small board, looks as if the Ram slots will get in the way, The X2900 is probably much stronger than your CPU(whats it got ?) By the time you get done modding it for the card, and find out you can't get the performance out of it due to BIOS restrictions etc.... Yeah just get a non OEM rig.

Sorry i thought he was seeing if there was enough room between the mobo and GFX to allo the card to be seated without hitting the black caps.

Yes that too! The card might fit, but is it worth it!!
Maybe...tough call!! :toast:
Nice pic sneeky...I like the way the card is bowed at the bottom by the Ram slots!

 Yeah on a BTX board also; At least I could make changes in BIOS (w/AthlonX2's help)
He's got an HP- can't touch that BIOS. He can't even Optimize windows and shut down useless processes. Locked out of it all by HP.

Please follow the Forum Guidelines (http://forums.techpowerup.com/announcement.php?f=14) when creating a new thread.
Use a decent thread title, threads like "help me","weird problem", "Please help!", etc. mean nothing, please make the title of the topic clear.
In-descriptive or vague titles may be changed.

I dont think you will have clearance for it. I dont know if its the motherboard or the case that you got. Id wait on that upgrade or build you a computer from scratch.

I have a PCI slot open next to my PCI-X slot
PCI-X is not PCI Express. You do not have a PCI-X slot. You have PCI Express (or PCIe) slots.

Actualy next to his PCI-E slot is an empty PCI slot.
He said "PCI-X", minor error.

First off sorry for the thread title Thermopylae_480. Ill be a little more careful next time. Could you adjust it to something more fitting?
Frogger: I had an x800xl and I now have an x1900GT and they both fit with ease. Iv never had a "double wide" like the HD2900.
Sneekypeet: thats exactly what I was trying to find out. Ill do what I can to post an image. Would this help you guys?
Namslas90: You sent me a PM. Let me know what info you need to lend a hand. I sure dont want to waste 450 bones!

Had to do the following 'MODS' to fit an X1900XTX into my Gateway.(see specs <<<)
Cut I/O slot adapter on back of card to fit in single slot. No slot above the PCI-E for double slot card.
Cut hole in back of case for exhaust fan.
Removed bottom pin from Mosfet Heatsink(replaced with zip tie) on X1900XTX and removed bottom 3 fins of heatsink. In order for it to clear that row of caps behind the PCI-E slot on my mobo C51GU01G1(BTX).
Also; had to modify case airflow to improve cooling to mosfets and GPU intake.
Yeah the card being Double wide is the biggest issue!

The only Issue I see is that SATA cable. That should not be much of a problem at all!!

Why the SATA cable?

Why the SATA cable?
Might have to 'tie' it down, then again the card may not even reach back that far.
Also that Cap your worried about, is it higher than the PCI slot?

Ya know I think this is becoming more trouble than what its worth. Thank you to everyone who chimed in! Ill just wait for a GT version or something more suitable to my rig. I already have an X1900GT in there so that should do me fine for a while.
Again thanks guys.
